Cleric charges ministers, wives on ministerial etiquette

The District Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Peaceland District, Pastor F.A. Oke has noted that in the ministry an oversight of bad behaviours can lead to improper conduct and create an unfortunate misrepresentation of what the men of God stand for in the ministry.

Pastor Oke told ministers and their wives at the just concluded refresher course organized for ministers and their wives at CAC Odi-Olowo DCC, Lagos that Jesus gave us the ultimate measure of conduct according to 1 John 2:6, stating that every ministers must live as a redeemed child of God”.

The Cleric told ministers that as the head or senior minister, they assume full responsibility for any action and decision taken for and on behalf of the church, stating that in order to bear fruits, the head must accept that he cannot work alone”.

Speaking on the role of the assistants/associates minister, he said: “the assisting ministers can be identified as someone operating under a superior head, hence they must ensure that everything is well with the head minister.”

Pastor Oke employed the ministers of God to always dress properly and formally for every occasion.

He said: "the shepherd's interaction with the sheep must be limited to his professional role as a shepherd to the sheep. As such, the ministers must restrict his interactions with church members to that which concerns the salvation of their souls and their establishment in Jesus Christ."

He warned the ministers of God not to minister to the opposite sex when they are alone and behind closed doors.

He emphasized cautiously that ministers of God should never lay hands on the private parts of the opposite sex.

In concluding his lecture, he charged the ministers that as the word to the world, they should be guided by the principles of holiness, factual, balanced, fair dealings and exemplary behavior.
