As the 51st edition of the Annual Christ Apostolic Church Ministers’ Wives Conference began yesterday, the General Superintendent of the Church, Pastor Emmanuel Odejobi has admonished the conferees to strive to be filled with spiritual power and gifts.

While ministering on the opening session of the conference, he said one of the reasons God gave us spiritual power and gifts is to care for one another.

Reading from 1 Corinthians 12 vs 25-27, Pastor Emmanuel said “as a minister’s wife, you are to care for everyone God has placed in the ministry of your husband.”

“If there is anyone with a questionable character, it is your responsibility as a minister’s wife to go on your knees in prayer for such person, and not to place him or her on the market basket, that is, spreading information about the bad character of such person”, said Pastor Odejobi.

The Clergyman said to the wives of ministers, to seek the perfection of other members of the body of Christ, without cutting off or condemning anyone, which according to him, is one of the purposes of the spiritual power and gifts given.

According to Pastor Odejobi, "if you are spiritually empowered, you will have victory over the flesh, you will become well knowledgeable and full of wisdom because the book of John 14:26 says ‘but the Comforter, which is Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things."

Another reason God gave spiritual power, according to the General Superintendent, is to overcome the flesh because the greatest enemy is the flesh. Speaking further, the Cleric said a minister’s wife who is spiritually gifted will be a huge source of blessings to the ministry of her husband, and to the kingdom of God at large.

“Someone with the gift of the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues will have no need to demand for respect from people, rather, she would be seen as a vessel of God. Backbiting has become a norm amongst ‘Christians’. As a minister’s wife, you also are a minister, and such character should not be found in you. There is no gain in it, and as such, it should not be a character of a minister’s wife," he said.

Reading from the book of Ephesians 4: 14-15, Pastor Emmanuel Odejobi admonished the conferees to be "no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, but rather speaking the truth in love, which is the head, even Christ."
