Help cannot be found outside of Christ. Anyone who wants to qualify for lifting, must have a close relationship with God and such a person needs to firstly give his or her life to Christ," says the DCC Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Achievers Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), Offa, Kwara State, Prophet S.O. Olukosi.
Prophet Olukosi stated this while ministering on Sunday May 24, 2020 on the topic "Credentials for Lifting" taking the text from Deuteronomy 28:1-7.
He said it is impossible to attain greater heights without giving one's life to Jesus Christ, urging everyone to be obedient to God and have a changed mentality.
According to him, it is only when you surrender the wheels of your life to Jesus that lifting will come, noting that the Psalmist said "for promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge".
He further said we get promoted by knowing the God who promotes, saying this credential is the most paramount of all credentials.
While commenting on "changed mentality" credential, Prophet Olukosi said "some thoughts need to be discarded off our systems of thinking before we can attain greater heights.
To be lifted, you need to change some certain sayings you've based your life upon. They say, "you cannot get anywhere without the help of a man'. I tell you today, that saying is false."
"This man at the pool of Bethesda made this same mistake. He focused on man for help, he said: "I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is troubled; but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.' The reason why this man never left that same spot for 38years was because he believed in man. He believed that without the help of a man to put him into the water, he could never receive his healing.
He had made man his focus.
He believed only a man could help. This man had forgot what the Bible says in Jeremiah 17:5 'Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.'
"And he waited for 38years because of the mentality of 'I have no man.' But thank God for Christ who came to correct this error in his life. Was Jesus then a man? He was the manifestation of God on earth. The man got help from God.
Without the help of that man, you can be great also. Without His help, you can gain that promotion. You can be favoured without committing the sin of adultery with that man. It is Jesus that needs to be involved in that situation, it is He who knows whom to raise for your help. Put your trust in God, not man."
Speaking on obedience and quoting Deuteronomy 28:1, Prophet Olukosi said obedience commits God to deliver His promises in our lives.
He further said: "Obedience is never a gift, it cannot be found in the scriptures where God gifted a man with the spirit of obedience. It is a choice, it is what you choose to do. The book of Joshua 1:8 makes us know that, obedience brings prosperity and also delays prosperity. It is what you choose that you get."
"The abundance of your prosperity is the abundance of your obedience. There is power in obedience, if you hearken to God, all He has said concerning you will surely come to pass.
Look at Peter, an experienced fisherman who had toiled all through the night and yet could not catch even a fingerling, but at the obedience to the word of Jesus, he caught what which was more than enough for him.
It is not your toiling that determines your prosperity, it is the blessings of God that maketh rich. Many lives have been stagnated, limited and demoted because of obedience. Check the state of your heart."
The Cleric said it is only when obedience is fulfilled or complete that God can rise for man and take up your battles as His.
He stressed that obedience is the end of struggle and cheapest way to disarm your enemies.
"The reason why some have not progressed is as a result of their disobedience. You cannot stop struggling if you refuse to obey.
Stop believing in your strength.
Desist from trusting man, trust God. Determine to obey God in all ramifications. You need to ask God to reveal to you your juncture of disobedience. Ask God for what His expectations are from you. It was obedience that helped Abraham to where he got to. When you continue in obedience, your lifting comes expediently. When you cease being obedient, your demotion comes expediently," he concluded.
Prayer!
• GIVE ME THE GRACE OF OBEDIENCE, SHOW ME WHERE I HAVE BEEN DISOBEDIENT LORD, SPEAK TO ME AS YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER.
