"Understanding the Time and Seasons" by Pastor Jacob Abolarin

Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

The economy of the whole nations of the world is crumbling because of the stormy pandemic that is mysteriously spreading like wild fire. In the efforts of cubing the spread, what the government of this world could do is just to close down all churches and worship centers in both the cities and villages, although markets were left opened because we felt the need for food more than the need for God. It’s really a big shake in the body of Christ and all we need in a time like this is the ability to understand the Time and Seasons from the perspective of the King of creation, who understands every situation.

What does it mean to understand the Time and Seasons? 1Chro.12:32

1.It means the ability to tackle situations without any restriction
2.It means the ability to proffer solution to a given situation
3.It means the ability to discern the hidden the needful in a particular circumstance
4.It means the ability to see through in a seeming blocked road
5.It means the ability to be a problem solver in the midst of trouble shooters
6.It means the ability to see beyond the present and project in to the future.
7.It means the ability to correspond the previous with the present and work out a substantial solution for the present situation.
8.It means the ability to see God’s will and purpose in the midst of every life challenges.
9.It means the ability to know that all things work together for good. Rom. 8:28
10. It means the ability to know what next steps to take, even when the unexpected suddenly surface.

There are enormous changes coming our way. We are in a hard trends which we can’t be able to ignore, and is already affecting us, our families, your works, and the people/communities/even church of God we care about.

If Christ tarries:
1.In the next 10 years computing power will be 100x what it is today.
2.Another 2 to 2.5 billion people will be connected via the internet.
3.Technological progress will eliminate many of the jobs people hold today (and create new work opportunities),and biomedicine will dramatically improve.
4.Urbanization will accelerate.
5.Millions of people will be added to the face of the Earth.
6.Affluence increases and abject poverty decreases.
7.In all but a few developing countries the aging population creates new stresses on society.
8.We must produce enough food for billions of people on the same amount of lands.
9.We must find energy and water sources for everyone’s needs.

Should all these meet us unaware? No at all
1.The scripture made it clear to us that, there’s time for everything. Ecc.3:1-8
2.The scripture says, on the last days wisdom shall greatly increase. Daniel 12:4
3.The scripture says, there will be many teachers and doctrines.
4.Jesus said learn from me. Matt. 11:29.
5.All these are part of the signs of the end of age. Matt.24.

But in the midst of all these, the following should remain fresh in our memories:

1.The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)
Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40).
2.Our need for wisdom (Jesus Christ). 3.He’s the wisdom of God. 1Cor.1:24
4.The need for every generation to be taught what is important and how to live well. 1 Chron. 12:32
5.God’s steadfast love and presence. John 16:33
6.Christianity is demonstrably the best way to live in relation with God and with one another. He.12:14

As Christians, we must beware of the following costly assumptions
1. Assuming with just only “prayers and fasting”, negative changes can be handled.
2.Assuming the government will take care of you, or even have your best interests at heart.
3.Trusting in the educational certification as the only means
Overly trusting technological, economic, and political solutions to meet the deepest needs of our souls.
4.Underestimating how communication technologies can enhance our ability to share the gospel.
5.Thinking only of the negative impacts of changes, rather than looking for opportunities to do more for Good and people around us.
6.Neglecting the sovereignty of God or the spiritual aspects of abundant life. Psalm 14:1

Conclusion; No one can understand the Time and Seasons without the wisdom of God. “If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God, who gives all liberally without reproach and it shall be given to him” James 1:5.
