Pursue and fulfill your dream by Evangelist Esther Ogunbayeje

“I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”  John 9:4

“For this purpose the son of God was made manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”  1 John 3:8

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”  John 10:10.

To pursue is to chase or earnestly do something in order to achieve a desired result. While purpose is the reason while something or somebody exists. It is the function or a role that such is designed to perform. To pursue one’s purpose is to daily and consciously do that which one has been created to do. It is to fit in and function in the role of one’s existence without leaving any vacuum.

From the above scriptures, one can see that Jesus’ purpose of coming to the world was well known to him. He was determined to fulfil His purpose on earth which he actually did on the cross when he declared that it was finished and breathed his last breath. “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”  John 19:30

God did not create a useless person; it is His desire that everybody is fulfilled in the purpose of his/her creation.  God’s purpose for each individual is different and unique and that is why each individual should not be jealous or envious of anyone but find and focus on his/her purpose.

To pursue and fulfil one’s purpose in life, one must daily, consciously, steadfastly, diligently and continuously engage in activities that lead to the accomplishment of the reason for why one was created in the first place.

WHY SOME PEOPLE DO NOT ACCOMPLISH THEIR PURPOSE IN LIFE?

1 Living in sin- e.g. The prodigal son.  Luke15: 11-32
2 Living in self- indulgence, a life without self- control. E.g. Esau. Genesis 25:29-34
3 Moving with wrong association. “Evil Company corrupts good habit.” 1 Corinthians 15:33
4 Disobedient to godly and wise counsels. E.g. Samson. Judges 14:1-16: 1-31
5 Laziness and Procrastination. “See you a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Proverbs 22:29.
6 Discouragement as a result of challenges, obstacles and threats of the devil, lack of help or encouragement from others that should be of help etc.
7 Fear e.g. Saul and the children of Israel were terrified of Goliath. 1 Samuel 17.

SOME OF THE THINGS NEEDED FOR PURPOSE FULFILMENT ARE:
1 Discovery- Discovery of purpose is essential because there cannot be an effective and productive use of a hidden instrument e.g. the man with one talent in Matt 25: 14-30.

Lack of discovery of purpose can also lead to abuse. Whatever the usefulness is not understood or known can be used for different things entirely, which may lead to ruin, malfunctioning or ineffectiveness.

Lack of discovery of a purpose of existence can lead to idleness, waste of time and resources and associating with wrong friends.

2 Work and walk in it- Whoever wants to fulfil his/her purpose in life must daily, diligently, persistently, prayerfully etc. work on it.

3 Focus- Avoid distractions that come as a result of envy, obstacles, challenges, wrong influence, pleasures and untimely rest. Philippians 3:12-13.

4 Obedience- Follow God’s instruction and direction- God is All-known and All-wise, He can successfully lead those obey Him to fulfil their purpose in life. 1 Sam 30:8

POINTS TO KNOW:
It is necessary to know that:
There are always obstacles and challenges on the path of great achievements. But God is ever present to help in all circumstances of life. Isa 43:1-7.

There is need for clarity about one’s purpose in life because pursuing others’ purpose will not lead to ultimate fulfilment.

Timing is important to fulfilment of purpose. Timely pursuit of one’s purpose reduces or removes stress, ambiguity, ineffectiveness and weariness.

Prayer is needed for strength, wisdom, and the right or divine connection because no one makes it alone.

It is possible to fulfil purpose of existence e.g. Joseph and Jesus.
A purpose fulfilled is a life fulfilled.
You are not the only beneficiary of your purpose and its fulfilment. There are many people whose accomplishment of their purpose is attached to the fulfilment of your purpose. So, you cannot but succeed.
A purpose achieved is a delight to God. It goes with reward e.g. Jesus Philipians 2:5-10

Conclusively, only the purpose that is pursued can be fulfilled. Refuse to let go of your purpose for anything, refuse to pursue others peoples’ purpose but daily do what is necessary for you to be fulfilled, learn from Jesus. Shalom.
