Ibukun, Yaba Districts’ Coordinating Council (DCC) headquarters celebrated her
78th anniversary recently. Gbenga Bankole who was at the anniversary had a chat
with the DCC Superintendent, Pastor S.E.A. Oludare, Church Secretary, Elder
Kayode Onasanya and Church Anniversary Planning Committee Chairman, Elder Akin
Ola Akinrera.
Christ Apostolic Church is blessed with many
assemblies who are even older than so many well known denominations in the
country. One of such assemblies which have grown to the status of DCC
headquarters is CAC, Oke Ibukun, Yaba DCC headquarters, Yaba Lagos.
The 78th anniversary of the church might have
come and gone, but the memory of the glamorous celebration of God’s
faithfulness cannot be easily forgotten.
The anniversary with the theme “The Zeal for the
Lord’s House” was held on Sunday October 21, 2018.
The DCC Superintendent of CAC Yaba DCC, Pastor
S.E.A. Oludare, Church Secretary, Elder Kayode Onasanya and Church Anniversary
Planning Committee Chairman, Elder Akin Ola Akinrera spoke on what it means for
the church to celebrate 78th anniversary and what has been upholding the church
since the last 78 years.
Love and Unity keep Yaba DCC

Lagos is one of the earliest churches in CAC. If CAC Worldwide is 100 and Yaba
DCC headquarters is 78, it means this church started 22 years after the
beginning of CAC. It is a very old church and we thank God that she is marching
on. I am happy that I am here at a time like this to celebrate with this
church. The arrangement of the anniversary was wonderful. The planning
committee did great work.
Love has been keeping the church
together since the last 78years. I was even told that the love is no longer
like before. Yaba is a very loving church and they are supportive to
themselves. It is more or less like a family church. There are some people who
are about 90 years old. Their sons should be about 70 or 60 years old and they
are also grand fathers. There are in-laws, mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law in
the church. The church is so united in her pursuit and I think that is what has
been keeping it going.
My message to the members of the church is
that we should remain united even more than ever before. They should be more
zealous for the church of God, particularly now that we have the plan to pull
down this building and build another one for God. We need unity, once we are
united, there is nothing we can’t achieve. We need to be united as a church and
body to achieve the project before us in a very limited time.
We are planning that we should
finish the construction of the new building before the time we will celebrate
the 80th anniversary of the church, which is in the year 2020. It is going to
be a powerful celebration. We want to bring the Principal Officers of CAC
Worldwide. We want to bring the crème la crème of Lagos, some powerful men in
Nigeria and great men of God to come and celebrate with us. I just pray that I
will still be here as the Superintendent. We are going to make it great.

I am so happy that we are all
alive to see the 78th anniversary of the church. I don’t think there is anybody
who will be happy as I am. I give glory to God for sparing my life to this
wonderful day.
It has been God that has been keeping the
church together since the last 78 years. The church has gone through thick and
thin, but we thank God because He is always with us. He is always there to
answer our prayers whenever we call upon Him.
Honestly to be 78 is not
something that is easy, but I think it is something everyone should pray for.
Once you are 78 it means you have grown up already. Yaba DCC is stronger than
ever before and we will continue to wax stronger.
My message to the church is that
we should continue to tolerate each other and continue to trust in the Lord.
Together we can move mountains with God on our side. And I believe with this we
will go far than we even thought of.

The 78th anniversary signifies that the Lord
resides on this mountain. You would agree with me that it is not easy for a
church to celebrate 10th anniversary talk of 78th anniversary. I am happy to
tell you that at 78, this church is waxing stronger. From all indications and by the special grace
of God, this church shall continue to wax stronger. The 78th anniversary means
so much to me as the Chairman of Anniversary Planning Committee.
Our plan for the 80th anniversary
of the church is that our ultra modern building which the church is planning to
build must have been in place by God’s grace. The ultra modern building is very
paramount in my mind, the authority of the church and every member of the
church. We are looking forward to the realization of the project. In addition
to that, we are planning the anniversary in a way that it will shake the whole
of this area and Lagos state at large. I have already notified the General
Evangelist of CAC Worldwide, Prophet Hezekiah O. Oladeji that he will be coming
in October 2020 for 3 days power packed open air crusade that will shake this
area. The Baba has graciously accepted. He has told me there is no problem. We
are going to give it very wide publicity so that at the end of the anniversary,
we would have won so many souls for Christ.
My message to the church is that
everyone of us should remain steadfast in the Lord vineyard. We should remain
committed to the task ahead and we should render more support to the leadership
of the church.
