In an unprecedented move aimed at fortifying the backbone of church governance, the Christian Apostolic Church, Somolu Olaleye Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Oluwemimo Akinyomi, hosted a landmark seminar on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
Titled "Responsibilities Of Church Officials," the seminar, which saw a gathering of church officials including Secretaries, Financial Secretaries, and Treasurers from various Districts and Assemblies, marked a pivotal moment. Held at the Somolu Olaleye DCC Headquarters, the seminar was designed to empower church officials with the necessary tools, knowledge, and ethical standards essential for effective leadership within the church community.
The Superintendent, Pastor Joseph Oluwemimo Akinyomi, in his opening address, emphasized the paramount importance of upholding CAC Constitutional standards, displaying quality leadership, and adhering to moral principles at all times.
Drawing from Luke 22:25-26, Pastor Akinyomi illuminated the characteristics of a servant- leader, stressing the selfless pursuit of the highest joy of those they serve.
In a thought-provoking discourse, Pastor Akinyomi underscored the importance of humility and sacrificial service, citing biblical references to elucidate the servant-leader's role in glorifying the Master and advancing the Gospel message. Participants were encouraged to emulate Christ's example of selflessness and humility in their leadership roles within the church community.
The lectures also covered the specific qualifications, duties, and tenure of Church Secretaries, Treasurers, and Financial Secretaries, elucidating their pivotal roles in the administrative machinery of the church.
Pastor Akinyomi highlighted the crucial responsibilities of the Financial Committee and the Board of Elders, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and adherence to financial manual guidelines.
