"Hope at Christmas" by Pastor Segun Awolumate

Roman 8:18-25

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

GALATIANS 4:4-5

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Hope is a powerful force and probably the most important factor when it comes to overcoming life’s biggest challenges. Without it, everything is lost.

They say that in certain tragic situations only mad men can keep their hope alive. But it’s that little spark that eventually pulls them from the depths of despair. Hope has the power to make you do the impossible.

While it’s hard to be optimistic during difficult times, but that's what Christmas heralds. Fresh hope.

There's something in man that makes him different from other creatures. It is the desire for a better , more comfortable life. It is towards this desire and expectation that he works and labours. However experience has shown that there's no guarantee in the physical realm that this expectation shall come to be. The only weapon let for a will to live is HOPE.

Some people are more optimistic and hopeful by nature, but even they need a little reassurance, every now and then, that things will get better.

From Genesis to Matthew the World painfully awaited the promise of God the Father of a Seed that will crush the serpent's head and thereby make life easier.

Nothing worked until the fullness of time which was over 4000 years later.

Sometimes Hope takes time. It could look like God has forgotten, but He has never and can never forget His words to you. Habakkuk 2:2-3

Jesus is the Hope of the world. He is the one the world had been waiting for in pain.

However in similar way the world presently awaits the sons and daughters of Zion to emerge.....Romans 8:19

You are the hope of the world. Your story is the hope of the hopeless.

The ends of the world is waiting to hear your story. Only you can tell it best.

But if you are the hope of the world, you can not afford to lose HOPE.

They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.

MAXIME LAGACÉ said:

It is because of hope that you suffer. It is through hope that you’ll change things.

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."..DESMOND TUTU

And  CHRISTOPHER REEVE said "Once you choose hope, anything’s possible."

You will have to make choices in coming days and months. But let me pray this prayer for you:

May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.

In conclusion, if Jesus is the Hope of the world, you have no hope of survival except in Him.

Give your life to Jesus today.

Shalom.
