The General Secretary of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Emmanuel Mapur, has charged believers to remain steadfast in their love and obedience to God, describing Him as a covenant-keeping God whose faithfulness never fails.
Pastor Mapur gave the charge on Sunday, May 24, 2026, during the thanksgiving service marking the 28th anniversary of CAC Oke Agbara Ashi English Assembly, held at the church auditorium in Ibadan.
In his sermon titled “The Covenant Keeping God,” Pastor Mapur described God as sovereign and boundless in His definition, noting that He remains faithful to His promises regardless of human limitations.
Teaching from Deuteronomy 7:9, the CAC General Secretary explained that Moses, while addressing the Israelites, revealed three major dimensions of God’s nature — His identity, character and actions.
According to him, God is the only true and sovereign God, supreme above all others, whose faithfulness remains constant towards those who trust in Him.
Highlighting God’s character, Pastor Mapur said God is reliable and unfailing, citing the biblical account of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, where God manifested as the fourth man in the fiery furnace.
He further stated that God keeps His covenant and promises with those who maintain a relationship with Him, stressing however that there are conditions attached to enjoying the benefits of the covenant.
“There is a condition. God keeps His covenant with those who love Him and keep His commandments,” he noted.
The General Secretary therefore urged believers to examine themselves and evaluate their level of trust and obedience to God.
Describing covenant as a sacred bond between God and man, Pastor Mapur referenced God’s covenant relationship with Abraham, noting that despite the long wait from the age of seventy-five, God still fulfilled His promise.
He also cited Genesis 9:11 where God covenanted never again to destroy the earth with floodwaters, explaining that God’s covenant dealings continue progressively across generations.
According to him, though men often break covenant with God, God demonstrated His unwavering commitment to humanity by sending Jesus Christ to restore man back to Himself.
Pastor Mapur further reminded the congregation that the blessings believers enjoy are not necessarily because of their personal righteousness, but because of God’s faithfulness.
Speaking on the second coming of Christ, he added that the promise of His return, as recorded in Acts 1 and the Gospel of Luke, where it is declared that He will return in the same manner He ascended into heaven, will ultimately bring God’s eternal covenant with His people to fulfillment.
The Assembly Pastor, Pastor Samuel Olowere, the Associate Pastor, Pastor Shola Omotosho, as well as members of the church appreciated God for sustaining the church over the past twenty-eight years and prayed for greater advancement of the assembly.
The anniversary celebration also featured powerful ministrations by the District Superintendent of CAC Oke Agbara Ashi District, Pastor Kunle Farayola, and Evang. Mrs. Rachael Olowere, alongside uplifting song ministrations that inspired worshippers during the programme.
A fundraising session was also held in support of the church’s new auditorium construction project, as members and guests generously contributed towards the development initiative.
The thanksgiving service was attended by ministers, church leaders and members who gathered to celebrate God’s faithfulness over the assembly through the years.
The anniversary celebration, which commenced earlier in the week, featured revival meetings and a praise night, drawing members and guests into moments of spiritual renewal and worship.
The anniversary thanksgiving ended in an atmosphere of praise and
gratitude as worshippers celebrated God’s faithfulness and His unfailing
covenant.
