The Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC) Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Amuwo-Odofin DCC, Lagos Pastor M.K. Ehinmode, Lagos, has warned ministers that unforgiveness remains one of the greatest spiritual dangers capable of destroying destinies and limiting divine empowerment.
Pastor Ehinmode delivered the lecture during the 2026 Honorary Pastoral Ordination Training Programme of the church, currently holding at Ikeji‑Arakeji.
Speaking on the topic, “Forgiveness and Restitution,” and drawing his text from Gospel of Matthew 18:21–35, the cleric described unforgiveness as a “deadly weapon used by the devil to destroy lives and wreck great destinies.”
He said many believers and leaders have lost their positions, spiritual relevance, and opportunities because they refused to forgive offenses.
“Unforgiveness is a drag. It slows down progress, causes stagnation, and robs a person of their place in God’s presence,” he said. “The heaviest burden anyone can carry is a grudge.”
Pastor Ehinmode further explained that unforgiveness breaks relationships with God, hinders prayers, and gives the enemy legal ground to operate in the lives of believers. He stressed that no one can maintain a right standing with God while harboring bitterness against others.
Citing biblical examples, he referenced Elisha, noting that spiritual greatness must be accompanied by the right character, including the spirit of forgiveness, to sustain legacy and divine empowerment.
The Cleric emphasized that forgiveness is not optional but a commandment from Jesus Christ and a necessary qualification for those seeking eternal life and spiritual growth.
He outlined key benefits of forgiveness to include spiritual freedom, emotional healing, open heavens, restored relationship with God, and access to divine mercy and blessings.
“Forgiveness releases you into freedom and positions you for God’s favor. Unforgiveness, on the other hand, creates barriers between believers and their miracles,” he said.
Pastor Ehinmode urged ministers in training and church leaders to cultivate the habit of forgiving others quickly, noting that doing so is essential for effective ministry, spiritual progress, and fulfillment of divine purpose.
The Honorary Pastoral Ordination Training Programme, holding annually at Ikeji-Arakeji, serves as a spiritual and leadership preparation platform for ministers within the Christ Apostolic Church.
