The public presentation of the new book 'Your Destiny – Your Life' and the birthday celebration of its author, Pastor Emmanuel Oluwagbotemi Oluokun, JP, held over the weekend with an impressive turnout of dignitaries, church leaders, and well-wishers.
The event, described by attendees as a “great success,” took place to the glory of God and featured inspiring testimonies from the author on the long journey that birthed the publication.
Among the dignitaries present were the Olushi DCC Superintendent, Pastor J. B. Olajide, PhD; Yaba DCC Superintendent, Pastor S. E. A. Oludare; Akoka District Superintendent, Pastor G. O. Oguntayo; Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Adeoti; Chief Launcher, Elder Niyi Ademuson; Co-launcher, Elder A. T. Fashola; Dr. Lekan Oluyelu; Deaconess Adewumi; Deaconess Osinoki; Deaconess Ogundana; Deaconess Shade Lawal; Elder and Deaconess Alaba; ElderOkedairo, Deaconess Shade Jacobs, Yaba Elders, Deaconesses and other members.

Sharing his story, Pastor Oluokun explained how God first revealed the mandate to him, even when he had personally chosen a different career path.
He narrated an encounter in his youth when a prophetess foresaw his calling as a writer—an idea he initially dismissed because his ambition was to become a civil engineer. However, according to him, choosing his personal will over God’s purpose led to difficult experiences, setbacks, and a “scar” that redirected him back to divine alignment.
He described his time at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, as a turning point:
“It was a wrong decision, yet God used it to shape me. The scar I received affected me, but it did not kill me. Instead, it added to my experience.”
He spoke of how he abandoned the book several times over the course of eight years, due to discouragement, until he received a divine message in 2023 that the project was finally complete.

Pastor Oluokun used the occasion to advise parents to pay close attention to their children—physically and spiritually—so they can discover God’s purpose early in life.
“The journey of destiny is a crucial matter. Once a child misses it early, there will be problems. Early discovery brings joy, while late discovery can be disastrous.”
He urged young people to seek God, understand themselves, find good mentors, and walk in line with divine purpose.
The book Your Destiny – Your Life, he explained, offers deep insights on:
- Understanding destiny
- Self-discovery
- Conditions for fulfilling destiny
- Dangers of late discovery
- Destiny killers
- Importance of destiny helpers
- How and where to secure one’s destiny
He prayed that readers would receive divine understanding as they engage with the text.
