Tuesday, August 26, at Alágbagbà village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, was a remarkable day — a day when many souls were drawn to Christ through the inspiring life story of a man who rose from humble beginnings to become a vessel of God’s glory.
As the President of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele, recounted his journey from modest roots — sharing both the difficult seasons and the divine interventions that shaped his path — it was clear from the congregation’s response that his story deeply touched their hearts.
Fondly called “the Alagbagba Boy,” Pastor Oladele gave a moving testimony about his childhood in the village. He spoke of the challenges he faced, including the inability to pursue education beyond elementary school due to his parents’ financial struggles, and how he once worked as a houseboy.
He then narrated how his mother courageously redirected his path, a turning point that became a testimony of God’s grace.
Though he admitted he had much more to say, he humbly summarized that whatever he has become today is solely by the grace of God.
His testimony was more than a personal story — it was a message. Building on this, the General Evangelist of the Church, Prophet Hezekiah Oluboye Oladeji, preached on the topic “Salvation,” using the President’s testimony as a powerful reference point.
The combined impact of both messages stirred the hearts of many, leading to a significant number of people stepping forward to surrender their lives to Christ — the God who transforms lives once considered written off.
The Regional Superintendent of Essien Region, Pastor I. Olu Eyebiokin, prayed for the new converts, sealing the moment with blessings. The programme was also marked by soul-lifting hymn singing and a fervent prayer session led by the General Evangelist.
Alagbagba, usually a quiet village, came alive as it hosted guests from across Nigeria and beyond. It was not just a homecoming for the President; it was a day of thanksgiving, celebration, and divine encounter.
The programme was graced by the General Superintendent of the Church, Pastor Emmanuel O. Odejobi, and his wife, Mrs. M.F. Odejobi; the General Evangelist, Prophet Hezekiah O. Oladeji, and his wife, Mrs. Esther Oladeji; Finance Director, Pastor Johnson F. Omitinde and wife, Mrs. Victoria Omitinde, Missions Director, Pastor C.S. Fasuyi and his wife, Mrs. J.T.
