It was a celebration of God's faithfulness and 50 years of walking with God on Sunday August 22, 2021 at the anniversary thanksgiving service of Christ Apostolic Church, Olushi Zonal headquarters, Obalende, Lagos.

The anniversary which started with a week revival programme ended with a thanksgiving service where members who have contributed immensely to the growth of the church since 50 years were honoured. This included posthumous awards received by the families of the few who have slept in the Lord.

President of CAC Worldwide, Pastor Samuel O. Oladele, who was unavoidably absent at the programme, was represented by the Acting Regional Superintendent of CAC Akinyele Region, Pastor Adedayo Samuel A. Adedayo.

While ministering on the theme of the anniversary, "Arise, Let's Build", from the text, Haggai chapter 1, Pastor Adedayo explained how God was not happy with the attitude of the people of Israel towards His house, because they were building houses for themselves while the house of God was in desolation.

He noted that for this reason, God raised Prophet Haggai whom He used to warn them before they agreed to do the work of God, the building of the house of God, which they later saw as important.

Pastor Adedayo told the people that they should see it as an opportunity whenever God calls upon them to build a house for Him, stating that God uses it as a means to bless people who participate, irrespective of the quantity contributed.

While he said that God will be happy if the people release themselves to build the new cathedral of CAC Olushi Zonal headquarters; the minister however, noted that God can only allow those who know Him to build a house for Him.

The Cleric added that, "everything we have is from God. When we were coming to this earth, we brought nothing. He is demanding little from what He has given to us."

Moreover, the Zonal Superintendent of CAC Olushi Zone, Pastor J. B. Olajide, expressed his heartfelt joy and gratitude to God Almighty for His countless blessings and enormous mercies bestowed on the assembly.

God's unfailing favour and divine grace, according to him, has made it possible for them to witness the glorious day.

"Again it is with great pleasure that I express my sincere appreciation to the Authority of the Christ Apostolic Church for my promotion and subsequent posting to this assembly and Zone about five years ago. I will never take this for granted. Thank you sirs. Similarly, our sincere thank you in a million times to our mother Church, the General Headquarters, Ebute Elefun, for all the understanding, support and motherly care all the time. There is no doubt that Olushi is a special Church planted by Ebute Elefun and we are very proud of that relationship," he announced.

In preparation for the cathedral, Pastor Olajide explained that, "by the grace of God, when I settled down here in Olushi and seeing all that was on ground, we have built a church on part of our land at Imota Ikorodu and I have posted a minister there for the work of the kingdom. Yet, the fact still remain that Olushi Assembly has not built her own worshipping Centre in Lagos Island."

"This raises the question, if land is easily available and cheaper to build elsewhere, why has Olushi not considered that alternative? As a Board, we sat down, reasoned and analyzed that that Olushi has earned her name and identity both at CAC worldwide and in Lagos. We saw that a movement from the present location will create a new church and the old name and identity will be lost. And that with the problem of community in Lagos, more than 50percent of congregants may not go to a new location. And the battle for the heart of Lagos Island must remain our focus with the presence of evangelism in the domain of the spiritualists. No more, no less."

"On that note, it was resolved that our dream Cathedral shall be built in Olushi street, God helping us; and it will include a multipurpose hall, the English Assembly, offices, the mission house and such other facilities. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen; our very distinguished invitees, I am glad to announce that all the preparatory works towards our Cathedral have consumed about N25 million to date. The work done includes documentation, drawings and approval, pilling of 62 out of 99 and each between 20m to 25m deep, consulting and supervision, building the carcass for the multipurpose hall, the English Assembly and offices as can be seen outside."

Pastor Olajide therefore, appreciated his predecessor in Olushi, Pastor S. I. Obafemi, whose tenure saw to the purchase of the lands - Imota Ikorodu and Olushi.

He also stated that, "I want to appreciate on behalf of the entire Olushi Church, our father in the Lord, the Director of Mission, Pastor C. S. Fasuyi for his prophetic donation to this work even when we were not financially ready. About five years ago, the then president of CAC made a stopover visit to Olushi and our father, Pastor Fasuyi was his entourage, seeing the open land, he pledged the sum of N1.5m which was promptly redeemed. It was prophetic because it challenged us and we saw it as God speaking for us to start."
