Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Glory of God Zone of celebrated its fourth choir anniversary on Sunday, September 20, 2026, with a call on members to embrace praise as a powerful means of drawing closer to God and overcoming life’s challenges.
The anniversary, held at the Zonal Headquarters in Ikorodu, Lagos, coincided with the fourth Sunday of the church’s special four Sundays of praise, which commenced on the first Sunday of September following a divine instruction.
Speaking during the anniversary service, the Zonal Superintendent, Pastor D.O. Olowookere, charged the congregation to make praise a consistent part of their walk with God, emphasising its power and numerous spiritual benefits in line with the anniversary theme, “Praise Him.”
Pastor Olowookere explained that praising God involves magnifying Him and declaring who He is and what He will continue to do.
He warned the congregation against directing worship to anything other than God, stressing that only God deserves their praise.
He distinguished between praise and prayer, noting that while prayer involves presenting one’s expectations to God, praise entails lifting God above those expectations.
According to him, God can also use praise as a means of bringing about the fulfilment of believers’ expectations.
Drawing from Psalm 103:1ff and Psalm 100:4, the Zonal Superintendent described praise as a spiritual weapon that opens the heavens and invites God’s presence.
He urged members to cultivate the habit of praising God regardless of their circumstances, even when their expectations have not yet been fulfilled.
Referring to the account of Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25–26, Pastor Olowookere noted that the apostles praised God despite being persecuted and imprisoned, after which their chains were broken and the prison doors opened.
He therefore encouraged the congregation to continue praising God in every situation, declaring that chains would be broken as they lifted their voices in praise.
He further stated that praise invites God’s presence and enables believers to overcome battles, urging them not to relent in worship because God would visit them in due time.
On the spiritual benefits of praise, Pastor Olowookere said it brings believers closer to God and stirs up their faith.
He encouraged the congregation to continually worship and praise God, stressing that praise carries numerous benefits for the believer.
The anniversary featured powerful song ministrations by the Zonal Choir, alongside congregational hymn singing, adding colour and solemnity to the celebration.
Other ministers within the zone who also ministered during the programme include Pastor Timothy Omole, Pastor S. R. Wonder, Pastor J. A. Folorunsho and Pastor K. Atilola.
