“A person who has sympathy for mankind in the lump, faith in its future progress, and a desire to serve the great cause of this progress should be called not a humanist, but a humanitarian, and his creed may be designated as humanitarianism,” wrote Irving Babbitt.
Today, as Pastor Caxton Segun Fasuyi marks his birthday, it is fitting to celebrate a life devoted not only to personal success but to the service of God and humanity. In a world where many pursue wealth for its own sake, Pastor Fasuyi stands out as one who has consistently used his resources to advance the Gospel and uplift lives. Within Christ Apostolic Church, he remains a shining example of faith in action.
Born on May 5, 1962, in Owena, and originally from Ido-Fabore in Ekiti State, Pastor Fasuyi’s journey reflects discipline, purpose, and divine calling. He began his education at Saviour’s Primary School, Owena, and continued at Ebun Ogunyinka Comprehensive High School, before attending the Federal School of Science, Ondo. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Religious Studies from the University of Jos.
Following his National Youth Service in Ilorin, he ventured into business and built a thriving enterprise. Yet, his heart remained firmly committed to ministry and the spread of the Gospel. This dedication led to his ordination as a pastor in Christ Apostolic Church on February 19, 1998—a defining moment in a life of service.
Over the years, Pastor Fasuyi has made remarkable contributions to the growth of the church. He has played a pivotal role in planting Christ Apostolic Church assemblies in strategic locations across Lagos and extending the church’s presence to South Africa. As the Director of Missions, his leadership continues to shape evangelism and outreach efforts within the church.
Beyond the pulpit, he has served as the Vice-Chairman of the Governing Council of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), where he is also a committed benefactor. His generosity led to the donation of the institution’s present Senate Building. In recognition of his achievements in business and service to society, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Entrepreneurship.
Pastor Fasuyi’s birthday is also a reminder of his far-reaching humanitarian impact. Through generous giving and strategic interventions, he has touched countless lives. On many occasions, he and his wife have provided relief materials to the needs.
His passion for empowering the next generation is equally noteworthy. Through their non-governmental organisation, Destiny Focus Care Initiative (DFCI), Pastor Fasuyi and his wife have sponsored numerous initiatives aimed at improving lives. Notably, fifteen youths from Christ Apostolic Church benefited from a three-month entrepreneurship training at JABU, fully funded by the couple. The initiative also extends support to widows, widowers, and orphans, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity.
In recognition of his unwavering dedication to the work of God and the advancement of the church, the General Executive Council of Christ Apostolic Church elevated the office of the Director of Missions to the rank of Principal Officers six years ago—an honour that underscores his immense contributions.
As he celebrates another year today, Pastor Caxton Segun Fasuyi’s life continues to inspire—a powerful testament to faith, generosity, and purposeful living. His story is not just one of success, but of impact, reminding us that true greatness lies in service to God and humanity.
