The President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele, has reaffirmed God’s enduring presence and guidance for the church as it navigates the challenges of the new year.
Pastor Oladele made this notable assertion during his annual visit to the CAC General Headquarters, Lagos, on Sunday, January 11.
Preaching on the theme “A Wall of Fire” from Zechariah 2:4–5, the CAC President emphasized God’s unfailing promise to protect and preserve His church. Drawing parallels from Israel’s journey, he noted that God never abandoned His people, whether in times of triumph or difficulty.
“One thing about Israel is that God never left them alone in their highs and their lows. He never left them to their own resources or without guidance and instructions. From the time they left Egypt, God led them, delivered them, redeemed them, and gave them instructions,” he said.
Pastor Oladele stressed that God guided Israel through the Red Sea and continued to give them divine instructions for their journey.
Referencing the history of the Christ Apostolic Church and the legacy of its founding fathers, he underscored the importance of leadership rooted in obedience to God’s instructions.
“Our fathers and forbears followed divine instructions, which led them to pray for ten consecutive years, culminating in the revival outbreak of 1930. CAC is a church built on instructions. Our fathers received instructions, obeyed them, and passed them on to us. A church that forgets her history will make grievous mistakes,” he warned.
He further explained that the strength and continuity of the church lie in its spiritual foundation.
“CAC is a church surrounded by the Word of God and His Spirit rather than laws. This is why the church has stood firm despite storms and billows,” he noted.
Assuring members of God’s abiding presence, Pastor Oladele said:“God will not leave His children. Yes, He may be angry with us, but He will not abandon us. He will forever give us instructions and guidance because we are His covenanted people. He will not leave His church alone; He will fulfil His promise. The presence of the Lord remains forever with the church.”
Using the ark of the covenant as an illustration, he added:“The oxen may stumble, the cart may roll, but the ark is safe.”
The CAC President urged members to pray earnestly for the restoration of God’s glory in the church, emphasizing that without God’s glory, material success and popularity are meaningless.
“If there is anything we must ask for as a church today, it is the restoration of the Lord’s glory. There may be wealth, riches, administration, popularity, and fame, but without the glory of God, all is vain. We must therefore pray for the restoration of God’s glory,” he concluded.
In a similar vein, the Superintendent of CAC Akinyele Region, Pastor Samuel Adedayo, echoed the call in his welcome address, urging members to return to the Bible and walk according to God’s Word.
“The Bible remains God’s final authority. Without the Word, we walk in confusion; with the Word, we walk in clarity, purpose, and victory,” he stated.
Citing 2 Timothy 3:16–17 and Psalm 119:105, Pastor Adedayo emphasized:
“As ministers and believers—particularly in Christ Apostolic Church—we are a people of the Word and of prayer. I call us afresh to return to the Bible: to read it diligently, believe it wholeheartedly, teach it faithfully, and live it practically. The power we seek, the revival we desire, and the exploits we expect are rooted in obedience to God’s Word.”
