The Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary (CACTS), Main Campus, Ile-Ife celebrated a remarkable display of academic and ministerial excellence on Friday, 21st November 2025, during the grand finale of its 44th Convocation Ceremony.

The major highlight of the convocation ceremony was the dedication of the Samuel Olusegun Oladele Multi-purpose Building, which made the day truly remarkable. The building was dedicated by the Finance Director of the church, Pastor Johnson F. Omitinde, on behalf of the President, Pastor S.O. Oladele, who was unavoidably absent.

The convocation ceremony reached its peak with the announcement of Oluwasanjo Joshua Olusegun as the Best Graduating Student of the Bachelor of Theology programme, having attained an exceptional CGPA of 4.68.

Oluwasanjo, who served faithfully as the Students’ Chaplain of the Weekend Programme, distinguished himself through diligence, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His remarkable performance earned him the prestigious Best Graduating Student Award, accompanied by a ₦50,000 cash prize presented by the seminary’s management.

In an exclusive interview, Oluwasanjo described the award as “a big honour which I do not take lightly,” adding that the achievement serves as “a strong encouragement to do more for God, the church, and society.” He dedicated this milestone to his parents, Pastor J. K. and Mrs. D. O. Oluwasanjo, appreciating their prayers, sacrifices, and steadfast support. His father, a DCC Superintendent in Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, was specially acknowledged as an inspiring figure in his spiritual and ministerial journey.

He further highlighted that the grace of God and a passion for excellence were the major forces behind his success. According to him, “CACTS has brought a lot of changes to me. Spiritually, academically, and ministerially—I am not who I used to be.”

Oluwasanjo also emphasized the profound impact of the mentorship he received from several lecturers in the seminary. He noted that many of them went beyond classroom instruction to provide platforms that shaped his gifts and confidence. “Some of my lecturers not only taught me but also mentored me and gave me platforms—one of which was the privilege to write journals and present academic papers. These opportunities have greatly shaped my journey,” he said.

He expressed sincere appreciation to the Provost, Pastor F. A. Olaniyi, and the entire management and staff of the seminary for their tireless commitment to quality theological education and ministerial formation. He described their contributions as instrumental to his academic and spiritual development.

Looking ahead, he affirmed his readiness to give back to the church and theological education community. “I look forward to using my teaching ministry as a tool to promote sound doctrine and ministerial excellence,” he stated, calling on students at all levels to “combat mediocrity, embrace diligence, and pursue excellence in all spheres of life.”

The grand finale of the 44th Convocation was marked by celebration, worship, and reflection on the seminary’s continued mandate of raising disciplined, Spirit-filled, and academically grounded ministers. Oluwasanjo’s achievement stands as a testament to what is possible through divine grace, hard work, and godly mentorship.
