It was a day of melodious praise and heartfelt thanksgiving as the choir of Christ Apostolic Church, Mountain of Blessing, Adekitan District, celebrated their 56th Annual Choir Anniversary on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
The event, themed “Singing Our Testimony,” brought together worshippers, music lovers, and church leaders in a vibrant atmosphere of gratitude and worship.
The choir presented an inspiring selection of songs that beautifully reflected the theme, including “There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy,” “Evidence” by Josh Baldwin, “Awa Yin O” by Bidemi Falakin and Tope Ilori, “I Will Give Thanks” by Giachino Rossini, rendered by soprano soloist Stella Akindehinde, and “A See Se Fun Wa” by David O. Aina, performed by soprano soloist Oluwaponmile Baruwa, among others. The performances captivated the congregation, blending classical, contemporary, and indigenous expressions of worship.
Two special renditions were also dedicated to celebrating the lives and legacies of the choir’s late grand patron and patroness, Pastor M.O. Malomo (FCA) and Deaconess E.M. Ilori, who both passed on earlier in the year. Their commitment and service to the church and music ministry were fondly remembered by the choir and congregation.
Delivering the anniversary sermon titled “Praise and Worship: An Impetus to Singing Testimony,” with his text taken from Psalm 100, Superintendent of CAC Amuwo Odofin DCC (Festac Cathedral), Pearce Region, Pastor M.K. Ehinmode, emphasized the importance of gratitude and worship as spiritual keys to divine encounter.
“Those who cannot think cannot thank,” he stated, adding, “No one gives thanks to God and goes on an empty tank. Thanksgiving takes you to His gate, praise brings you into His court, and worship ushers you into His sanctuary.”
Quoting Psalm 132:7, Pastor Ehinmode highlighted that “worship is the highest form of praise you can give to God,” stressing that “the more you worship God, the less you worry.” Using examples from the lives of David, Jehoshaphat, and Nebuchadnezzar, he admonished believers to remain grateful, saying, “When you disregard the grace of God in your life, you become a victim of disgrace. Appreciation is an application for more.”
The thanksgiving service was a three-fold celebration, featuring the dedication of Baby Adassah Oluwadunsin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Peters; the 20th wedding anniversary thanksgiving of the Adekitan District Superintendent, Pastor & Mrs J. Ola Oyepetun; and the 56th Choir Anniversary thanksgiving.
In his welcome address delivered during the festival, the District Music Director, Elder Michael Aladejebi, expressed deep gratitude to God for His faithfulness toward the choir and the church at large. “Despite the challenges of the economy, we came out strong,” he said. “Our members and congregation experienced God’s greatness in weddings, naming ceremonies, and academic successes. While singing our testimony, we shall rededicate ourselves to God.” He appreciated the choir members in diaspora, the board of elders, Curate Pastor Daniel Revelations, and District Superintendent Pastor J. Ola Oyepetun for their unwavering support.
Also speaking, the Choir Master, Mr. Olaniyi Ilori (FCA), appreciated all guests and supporters who joined in the celebration, including CAC Adekitan Choir Secretary Emeritus, Elder M.B. Abegunde; members of the Choir Alumni; Assistant Choir Master, CAC Ebute Meta, Elder Akerejola; Choir Master, CAC Orisun Ibukun, Bariga, Elder Oloruntobi Ojo; representatives from CAC Kosofe DCC; Elder Sunday Adenekan leading the CAC Macauley delegation; Elder Bejide; Pastor Sam Agboola of Excellentway Covenant Christian Centre; and Choir Master, CAC Oke Alafia, Ikare Akoko, Brother Sam Ogunremi.
