Christ Apostolic Church, Ilorin Districts’ Coordinating Council (DCC), Kwara State, has held its 2025 Refresher Course for Ministers, their Wives, Elders, Deaconesses, and all Church Workers.
The spiritually enriching two-day programme took place from Friday, September 5 to Saturday, September 6, 2025, at CAC Oke Isegun DCC Headquarters, No. 92 Taiwo Isale, Ilorin. It was designed to rekindle the spiritual passion of church leaders while addressing practical issues in ministry, family life, and health.
Day One: Ministers and Wives
The opening day was dedicated to ministers and their spouses, featuring three impactful lectures: Empowering the Body of Christ through Leadership Development, Family First: Leadership from a Christian Perspective, and Leading like Jesus: The Cost of Discipleship.
Speakers emphasized that the strength of the church is rooted in strong Christian families, urging ministers to model Christlike leadership both at home and in the church.
Day Two: All Church Workers
The second day brought together all categories of church workers. Sessions included a health talk on Preventing Lung Cancer, a lecture on The Significance of the Holy Spirit in Preparing God’s People for Leadership, and Leadership for the Harvest: Preparing Workers.
The teachings underscored the need for holistic ministry that integrates both physical well-being and spiritual responsibilities.
Call to Raising Leaders
In his welcome address, Evangelist E.T. Akeredolu, Superintendent of CAC Ilorin DCC, charged participants to embrace servant leadership. Quoting Matthew 20:26 and 1 Peter 5:2–3, he declared:
“Leadership in Christ’s church is not about domination but service. Jesus raised leaders through delegation and the discovery of potentials. We must go and do likewise if the church is to survive and grow.”
He further urged ministers to reproduce themselves by identifying, nurturing, and empowering new leaders for the future of the church.
Other Speakers’ Highlights
Pastor P.A. Akerele, DCC Secretary, warned against complacency, stressing that:
“The strength of any church lies in the quality of its workers. When workers are dedicated, prayerful, and teachable, the church will stand strong, no matter the challenges.”
Similarly, Pastor P.A. Oluyide emphasized the indispensability of the Holy Spirit in ministry, noting that skills and knowledge without the Spirit would yield little impact.
Renewed Commitment
The programme ended with renewed zeal among participants, who left spiritually refreshed and better equipped for service. The leadership of CAC Ilorin DCC reaffirmed its mission to continually build capacity among ministers and workers to ensure the spread of the Gospel from one generation to the next.
