Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Babalola Region, Protocol Department, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, held its second annual seminar at CAC Prayer and Action Zonal Headquarters, Ibadan.

The theme for this year’s gathering was “Understanding Security Operations Procedures in Church Events for Dignitaries and Pastors.”

The seminar, which drew protocol representatives from assemblies across Ibadan land, was aimed at strengthening the efficiency, discipline, and security consciousness of church protocol officers.
According to the organizers, that the program has become a yearly platform for training and retraining, as the church continues to prioritize safety, orderliness, and excellence in service delivery.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Bukola, a forensic security expert, took participants through a comprehensive session on modern security operations in church events.

His lecture highlighted three key areas: pre-event preparation, event management, and post-event evaluation.

He explained that pre-event preparation involves mapping out entry and exit routes, identifying potential security risks, assigning officers to strategic points, and ensuring coordination with external security agencies when necessary.
According to him, a protocol team that fails to plan ahead is setting the church up for confusion and possible security breaches.

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of crowd control and dignitary handling during event management.
He then urged protocol officers to remain calm under pressure, avoid unnecessary confrontation, and maintain a balance between firmness and courtesy.
“Protocol officers must understand that security is not about intimidation, it is about creating an atmosphere of peace, order, and safety for everyone,” he said.

On post-event evaluation, Dr. Bukola recommended that protocol teams, on a regular basis, ought to review their performance after major programs noting what worked and what needs improvement.
He encouraged participants to adopt a culture of feedback and continuous learning.

In his remarks, the regional coordinator of the protocol department, Pastor Ezekiel Owoeye, described the second edition of the seminar as both a continuation and an improvement on previous year’s maiden event.

He noted that the church is committed to producing a protocol team that reflects the dignity and orderliness of CAC worldwide.
“Last year we laid the foundation, and today we are building on it. Protocol is about discipline, alertness, and service with humility. That is what we are instilling in our members,” he stated.

Also speaking, the deputy coordinator, Deacon Idowu Ogunkunle, encouraged participants to see themselves as ambassadors of the church’s image.
He reminded them that protocol is not a one-day duty but a continuous responsibility that requires vigilance and preparation

Participants expressed their joy at being part of the training, describing it as timely and eye-opening. One of the attendees said, “I have learned that protocol is more than ushering people in. It is about security, planning, and ensuring that worship remains smooth and dignified.”
Another participant noted that the seminar would help her local church improve in managing large crowds during special services.

The event was held under the auspices leadership of the President of Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele, and the Regional Superintendent, Babalola Region, Pastor G.S. Dada, both of whom were appreciated for their unwavering support for the growth of the protocol department in the region.

With representatives drawn from across Ibadan land, the seminar concluded with prayers and a renewed pledge by protocol officers to uphold vigilance, integrity, and excellence in service to God and His church.
