Pastor S.O. Oladele’s 70th Birthday: Hymns Concert marks day two of celebration

The 70th birthday celebration of the President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele, continued in grand style on Wednesday, August 27, with a soul-lifting Cocktail Concert of Hymns. 

The evening, which held in his honour, combined music, drama, and prayers in a memorable atmosphere of worship and thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness in the life of the church leader.

The event began with a solemn organ rendition that heralded the entry of Pastor Oladele and his wife. Congregants rose to receive them joyfully, after which the Superintendent of CAC Adamasingba DCC, Pastor J.S. Adigun led the opening prayer, dedicating the night to God in thanksgiving.

The program was structured around three hymn sessions, coordinated with spiritual depth and musical excellence:

Session One, anchored by the immediate past Music Director of Music and incumbent Director of Administration of the church, Pastor Tope Dada, featured Hymns 74, 95, and 173 from the CAC General Hymn Book. Pastor Oladele himself read Psalm 95, calling all to worship with gratitude.

Session Two, coordinated by the Choirmaster of CAC All Saints' Chapel, Deacon Ayoade and Assistant Music Director of the church, Pastor Paul Bankole, featured Hymn 707, the timeless A Mighty Fortress is Our God (Hymn 730), and Hymn 1059. The session also included a drama presentation by the All Saints Chapel Drama Unit, titled Destined for Good Work – A Tribute to Pastor S.O. Oladele.

Session Three concluded with Hymns 82, 691, 887, and 351, passionately sung by the congregation.

The General Superintendent of CAC, Pastor Emmanuel O. Odejobi, led a heartfelt prayer for Pastor Oladele and his family, asking for greater grace as he enters a new season. In appreciation, one of the biological children of the celebrant, Pastor Yinka Oladele, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude to God, the church leadership, and all dignitaries for their love and support.

The concert drew the presence of several top church leaders, underscoring the wide respect Pastor Oladele commands within CAC. Among those present were wife of the General Superintendent, Mrs. M.F. Odejobi, Wife of the General Evangelist, Mrs. Esther Oladeji, Finance Director, Pastor J.F. Omitinde, General Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel E. Mapur, Regional Superintendent of Medaiyese Region Pastor Gabriel Aboderin and Regional Superintendent of Anosike Region, Pastor Simeon Oladokun.

Others are Chairman, CAC Conferences and Convention Committee, Pastor Gideon O. Oladokun, Superintendent of Mokola DCC, Pastor Samson O. Gbuyiro, Secretary of CAC World Evangelistic Outreach, Pastor J.O. Makinwa, Superintendent of Southern DCC, UK, Pastor Sunday Asoso, Superintendent of CAC First in the Americas, Pastor Gbenga Famojuro and Superintendent of Yaba DCC, Pastor S.E.A. Oludare amongst others. 

The Cocktail Concert of Hymns was not merely a musical gathering but a spiritual experience that celebrated the enduring legacy of Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele. His life of humility, leadership, and service continues to inspire the Christ Apostolic Church and the body of Christ at large.
