The Authority of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas on Friday September 14, 2023 inaugurated the church's constitution review committee.
CAC constitution has been reviewed several times since it came to being, the most recent being in 1998. Saddled with the responsibility to review the constitution, the committee was given eight weeks to carry out the assignment.
The committee, inaugurated at CAC General Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State is headed by the Regional Superintendent of CAC Babajide Region, Pastor S.O. Owolabi and it has Clerics, a Chief Judge, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and many others as members.
Inaugurating the committee, the President of the church, Pastor Samuel O. Oladele said Christ Apostolic Church was established under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost.
He noted that our conduct since inception of our Church has been marked by high-level of discipline, mutual submission and respect for the rule of law as enshrined in our Constitution
"Our constitution contains the body of law by which our operations, as a corporate entity, are guided.The CAC Constitution derives its legitimacy from the extant law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and any deviation from same renders our constitution null, void and of no effect," Pastor Oladele stated.
The President, however, said there have been developments and innovations that have been introduced with a view to moving the Church forward which need to be entrenched in our Constitution hence, the need to review our constitution.
He further explained that;"the decision to constitute a Constitution Review Committee was ratified at the last General Executive Council meeting held on August 16, 2023. As I have always mentioned, our Church is blessed with men and women whose capacity, competences and experiences are priceless. From this rich pool of human capital you have been chosen to undertake this historic task on behalf of the Authority of the Church."
Pastor Oladele charged the committee to carry out their assignment with the fear of God and very high sense of duty taking their eyes off persons and looking at the offices and overall interest of the Church and God, who owns the Church.
"As stated in your Terms of Reference, your committee shall look into and review the C.A.C, extant Constitution with a view to incorporate newly-created Regions, Regional Superintendent Positions, Committees/ Departments/Fellowships: expunge obsolete ones, and confirm if it complies with extant Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We believe that the outcome of your assignment, when implemented, shall help in making Christ Apostolic Church more efficient, more productive and God-glorifying. Therefore, we pray that the Lord shall grant you the grace to succeed in this assignment, in Jesus' Mighty Name," he concluded.
The committee hit the ground running after the inauguration as it held its first meeting.
The inauguration had in attendance, apart from the committee members, the General Secretary of the church, Pastor Emmanuel E. Mapur, Finance Director, Pastor Johnson F. Omitinde, Special Assistant to the President, Pastor T.D. Asokeji and Acting Director of Administration/ Music Director, Pastor Tope Dada.
