Adamimogo Football Club formally launched, wife of Ogun Governor, top dignitaries in attendance

It was a memorable day of fulfillment on Sunday, August 28, 2022 as the Coordinator of Christ Apostolic Church, Babalola Memorial Camp, Ikeji Arakeji, Prophet Sam Olu Alo officially launched a new football club, Adamimogo Football Club.

The launching was held at Christ Apostolic Church Grace of Mercy, Adamimogo Zonal Headquarters, Ogombo, Ajah, Lagos.

The club recently had a week-long trial for players to be recruited. About 1,270 footballers, aged between 10 and 27, applied for the trials, with only 727 players turning up for the trials and screening.

Apart from the football club which has been registered and licensed to feature in the Nigeria National League One (NNLO) next year, the Adamimogo Football Academy for children between the ages of 8 and 15 was also flaunted by the cleric.

The official launching programme had in attendance Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, who was the Chairperson of the day; Engineer Tunji Olanubi, Engineer Jimi Osho, Hon. Dayo Ogunjebe and other special guest including friends and well wishers.

While delivering her speech, Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun said, "this is the day the Lord has made, we will all rejoice and be glad in it. I appreciate our father in Lord for inviting me to this launching. May God bless and continue to strengthen you."

She added that; "it is the mission and purpose of every human on earth to be our brother's keeper not just by lips but by action, this is a challenge to everyone. It is time we all stand up to help one another."

She noted that if we can engage every youth on the street into doing something good, our community would be crime free, adding that she looks forward to seeing the next Ronaldo and Messi in players of Adamimogo Football Club.

The Coordinator CAC Babalola Memorial Camp, Ikeji Arakeji, Prophet Sam Olu Alo said that he had loved sports right from his youth, noting that he might have become a star in sports if he had an opportunity like this.

The Cleric said that he had made so many plans for the football team and the players so as to ensure that they do not lack in anyway but become useful to the society and themselves.

Prophet Alo said the footballers were selected from across Nigeria without consideration for religion, language and ethnicity.

He added: “Work hard for your star to shine and see this as an avenue to serve yourself and not me. The reason why some of our youths are not realising their dreams is that they put money first in whatever they do. Also, some want to start football today and go play abroad today. It doesn’t happen like that always. Anybody without work cannot shine, work for history in order to shine.”

One of the players in the trial, Emmanuel Giveth told The Nation that the team will give him an opportunity to re-launch his career after returning from Turkey. “I saw a future here after returning from Turkey where I was almost stranded. I think it was made for me. Many footballers will benefit from this,” he said.

For 16-year-old Azeez Qudus, the club is an avenue for him to pursue his dream of playing football at a higher level.

The Special guest were  awarded for honoring the invitation as the guest artist Evangelist Elijah Akintunde (Olorun Ko So Be) took the congregation into praise.
