Christ Apostolic Church, Yaba Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC) headquarters, Lagos, on Sunday May 15, 2022 laid the foundation of her 3000 capacity new auditorium.
It would be recalled that CAC News reported four years ago, the intention of CAC Yaba to build a new cathedral.
The Superintendent of CAC Yaba DCC, Pastor S.E.A. Oludare told CAC News this morning that the vision of the new auditorium has been on for over 25 years.
He noted that he is the 6th Superintendent who had tried to embark on the reconstruction of the old church which has come to reality, adding that the current church building has been standing for over 66 years
According to him, CAC Yaba is a church that hosts a lot of major music concerts and interdenominational conferences/services which has called for the need of a bigger ultra modern church building, hence the need for a cathedral which will match world class standard and also stand the test of time for many dacades to come if the Lord tarries in His coming.
The Cleric revealed that the cathedral would have 3,000 capacity with a 200 seater choir stall.
"The church will be purely a worship center. Nothing will be added to it. By the grace of God, we hope to install a good pipe organ in the church when completed, he added.
Pastor Oludare further stressed that; "CAC Yaba is one of the best acoustical buildings in Lagos and by the grace of God, we will not lower that standard. Music is one of our major means of evangelism in CAC Yaba and we will keep the flag flying even after the construction of the new church."
On when the cathedral would be completed, Pastor Oludare said that; "the Lord gave us a command to build the church with two conditions; the Lord said 'lay the foundation and I will build it.' The Lord said 'do not take a bank loan to build the church. Just build as I send money to you.' We can see the work moving fast because it is God that is in charge of its building. Once the house is ready, we will move into it."
The foundation laying was done on a low key and internally but by the grace of God, the dedication will be a major celebration which will attract the cream la cream of Nigeria and the Authorities of CAC.
He revealed that the Project Committee Chairman is Pastor Sola Ajidagba and Fund Raising Committee Chairman is Elder Niyi Ademusan.
