As the world celebrates this year Father's Day, the Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Itire Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), Pastor Gideon O. Oladokun has urged fathers across the globe to acknowledge God as their father.

Pastor Oladokun who noted this in an exclusive interview with CAC News said Jesus Christ came to this world for two reasons, to fulfill the covenant of Abraham and reveal God unto us as father.

He further stressed that all Jesus Christ wants from us is for us to acknowledge God as our father and that is why when He was teaching his disciples how to pray, He asked them to start with "Our father who is in Heaven."

"It is quite unfortunate that so many fathers are not real fathers. Many people who are suppose to be fathers are still acting like children. They are not providing for their homes and their children and wives, and the Bible says any man who doesn't provide for his home is worst than an infidel. Some of those children they failed to take care thought they don't need God because of the behaviours of their fathers. A father must be loving and caring. I want to enjoin all fathers to be loving and caring. The lack of real father is what is affecting our nation. So many fathers are not fathers but tormentors. 'Happy fathers day' should not be for mere saying. We must reflect what we are saying," the Cleric noted.

On the importance of having a spiritual fathers, Pastor Oladokun said: "I thank God I have spiritual fathers who I'm following their footsteps. They have done so much in my life. God used them tremendously for me. It is good for all fathers to have fathers, but when you don't have fathers you can't go further. If you want to go far in life you need a father indeed. You need somebody who can correct you and who will not hesitate to discipline or chastise you."
