It was a day of celebrating a living legend and icon who has labored and still laboring immeasurably for the expansion of God’s kingdom at the birthday ceremony and send-forth service organized for the President of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, Pastor Abraham O. Akinosun by CAC Yaba Districts’ Coordinating Council (DCC).
The service, which was held on Sunday December 6, 2020 at CAC Yaba DCC headquarters, Yaba, Lagos, was purposely organized to celebrate the outgoing president of our great mission who started his ministerial career in CAC Yaba as a Catechist (Evangelist).
While delivering the welcome address at the programme, the Church Secretary of CAC Yaba DCC headquarters, Elder Kayode Onasanya said the programme was carefully planned to celebrate Pastor Akinosun who worked tirelessly for the expansion of the gospel in CAC and beyond.
He said CAC is blessed to have him as the President, noting that the living legend is worthy of emulation, describing him as an achiever, Bible encyclopedia and a father indeed.
Pastor Akinosun while ministering on the topic “With Purpose of Heart Cleave Unto the Lord” at the programme taking the text from Acts 11:23-24 said some things that will help one to cleave unto the Lord are humility and faithfulness, holiness, prioritising the kingdom of God, persistence in prayer and forgiveness.
He said through humility and faithfulness we know truly who Christians are, noting that we grow in grace through cultivating character in our lives.
Pastor Akinosun stated that humility is vital in our walk with God and when we maintain a humble heart before the Lord, we allow the Holy Spirit to use us as a vessel of His grace and mercy.
While urging people to live a holy life, he said the pure in heart understand God’s heart and revealed mysteries, adding that “God reveals His plans to friends, who keep themselves separated from the snares of the enemy and of the world. For you to be holy, fulfill the Bible and ensure purity of your heart. Psalm 24:3-6 has told us how. Read the Bible devotionally; make it as a pattern of your life, be a Bible based believer and watch your Christian life through the Bible.”
Pastor Akinosun appreciated the DCC Superintendent of Yaba DCC and his wife, Pastor and Mrs. SEA Oludare, all District Superintendents, Pastors, other Ministers, Board of Elders, Good Women, Ministers’ Wives, Youth, Royal Shepherds, Sunday School Teachers, Deacons/Deaconesses and all others who made the occasion workable.
The living legend after leaving Bible College in 1975 was briefly at Oja Odan in Ogun State as an Evangelist and barely a month after, he received posting instruction to CAC Yaba also as a Catechist (Evangelist). His stay at Yaba was very impactful, late Pastors Aoko, Coker, Siwoku and Elder Soneye were some of the church members that worked closely with the President. He thereafter left Yaba in 1977 for Caypemrary Bible College in Germany.
The programme had in attendance the General Secretary of CAC Worldwide, Pastor Emmanuel E. Mapur, Mission Director, Pastor C.S. Fasuyi, General Superintendent Designated, CAC Worldwide (Pastor E.O. Odejobi) represented by his wife, Mrs. Mariam Odejobi, Akinyele Regional Superintendent, Pastor Moses O. Yusuff and retired and former Superintendent of Yaba DCC, Pastor D.O. Obafemi.
The planing committee made up of 14 people was headed by Elder Dr. 'Gbade Akinrinmade.
