The President of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, Pastor Abraham O. Akinosun, has joined millions of Nigerians to call for the release of convener of the ‘RevolutionNow’ Movement Mr. Omoyele Sowore.
Pastor Akinosun also called on Nigerians to always obey the rule of law and not to abuse the democratic system of Nigeria.
The cleric stated this on Wednesday while speaking with Journalists at Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, after the ordination of 1770 new pastors of the church.
“Sowore should be released since a court of competent jurisdiction has granted him bail,’’ he said.
The cleric advised the Federal Government and the National Assembly to stop the passage of the social media regulations bill into law, saying that the existing laws guiding public utterances should be strengthened.
“The Federal Government and the National Assembly should make use of the existing laws of defamation to deal with those involved in hate speech. It should also be stated that the death sentence is too grievous a penalty for such an offence,” he said.
Pastor Akinosun called on the leadership of the country to make policies that would be beneficial to the citizenry.
