Music Ministers across the globe have been urged to emulate the servant leader character of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Music Director of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, Pastor Tope Dada gave this advice while delivering his address on the theme "Christian Leadership and Effective Music Ministry" on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at the ongoing Music Ministers' Conference organized by the Music Directorate of CAC Worldwide.

He noted that great leaders are seen as servants first, and that simple fact is key to their greatness, saying that a relevant definition of servant leadership focuses on the spirit of the leader and his task as a leader.

According to Pastor Tope Dada, a servant leader is mission driven and goal oriented, adding that he is a moral leader whose purpose is accomplished when his dependents become independent.

He also said that a servant leader focuses both on his spirit and task as a leader and seeks to meet the needs of the followers through actions that empower the followers by sharing authority and authentic leadership practice that build the followers.

"The servant leader focuses on teamwork, equality and strong ethical behaviour which involves the followers in decision making and provides quality direction to the followers. He promotes valuing and development of people, authenticity, and sharing of power for the common good of the individuals and the organization. The servant leader loves to serve others, therefore in the kingdom of God you are recognized by how much you have prepared and served God's people," the Cleric noted.

He noted that the work towards effective leadership especially in the choir, is developing highly focused teams to set standard, shake off complacency and rise to the demands of their callings.

He added that: "this is the major driver that led to the theme of this year's conference. We must allow new ideas to percolate our value being. We must proffer the right leadership that will positively affect the attitude of our members and our congregation. We must be flexible and be alive to modern trends not leading our people into becoming relics and caricature of their previous glories. What made youth to move out in droves only to come back to honour their parents with their or funeral services must be avoided in our church. Let's be mindful of disruptive innovation techniques that will thwart our movement to the next of success. We must adapt while not compromising the tenets of our faith."
