"Christ’s death is the crux of the Christian faith. Without His death, there is no faith. The death of Christ reconciles man to God which is the symbol of the cross. Jesus, through His death bridged the gap that sin created between man and God.  Christ’s death was paramount, because there must be bloodshed before there could be remission of sin," said the Minister in Charge, Christ Apostolic Church, Victory Chapel (An English speaking assembly), Ketu Lagos, Pastor Raphael Adegoke.

Pastor Adegoke in his Good Friday message obtained by CAC NEWS said: "every week has got a Friday, but in a year a particular Friday is regarded as being good by many Christian denominations around the world and it’s thereby called “Good Friday”. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, and Black Friday. Members of many Christian denominations observe Good Friday with fasting and church services. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and his death on the cross at Calvary. Its date varies from one year to the next on both the Gregorian and Julian calendars."

"To me, though every day is good without the exception of Friday, but Good Friday is an undeniable day of the year that comes with renewed awareness of the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. So, in order to make it good as almost generally acclaimed, then it is a day of sober reflection on the sufferings of Jesus Christ, His death upon the cross for the sins of man, His ascension to Heaven,  His second coming, millennial and eternal reign. It is a day of salvation, renewed commitment and rededication to God."

"Christ’s death is the crux of the Christian faith. Without His death, there is no faith. The death of Christ reconciles man to God which is the symbol of the cross. Jesus, through His death bridged the gap that sin created between man and God.  Christ’s death was paramount, because there must be bloodshed before there could be remission of sin. The blood of animals and that of angels could not atone for the sins of man because none of them was made in the image and likeness of God. So they lacked the life of God which man lost. Life is the blood and since none of the aforementioned had the life of God so they could not offer man their lives through their blood.
Christ came to offer man His life. That He could only do, by releasing His life which was in His blood, through death. The life which would never become man’s if He (Christ) had decided to hold unto it. In the same vein, man would not possess the life without receiving it, the reception which is only done by faith through believing the Lordship of Christ with the heart and confessing it with the mouth.  This is what it means to be born again. So, anyone that gets born again escapes the second death while anyone that refuses to get born again is condemned to die the second time- eternal death."

"So, the death of Jesus brings salvation. Salvation is all encompassing. It is deliverance. It delivers from sin, sickness, trouble, attack from Satan, poverty, wretchedness, failure, disappointment, delay, affliction, e.t.c. The best we can do in a day as this in order to appropriate and appreciate the death of Christ is to absolutely surrender our all to God, that is, our whole spirit, soul and body. In this we can then say the Friday is indeed good."
