The Executive Director, Finance, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mrs Yemisi  Edun has said that a family can shipwreck if the financial aspect is not well taken care of.

Mrs. Edun noted this recently at the Couples Banquet organized by Royal Home Foundation Int'l.

According to her, couples need to pray for guidance and wisdom on how to earn money, use money, and distribute money to where necessary.

Prerequisites to having a balanced family finance according to her are trust and honesty, transparency, defining goals, combining resources, distributing financial responsibilities, (the financial responsibilities of a family must not be heavy on one than the other), complementing each other not competing; and financial discipline.

"Couples should be open with each other about their financial buoyancy. It is not compulsory for couples to have a joint account, because many couples today have  joint accounts but are not united, they are miles far away from unity," Mrs. Edun stated.

While speaking on "Understanding the Uniqueness of Your Spouse," the Convener of the programme, Mrs. Deborah-Abimbola Akanbi said understanding the uniqueness of one spouse is a psycho process that involves listening, digesting (what has been listened to) and coming to the state of realization.

She advised couples to endeavour to understand themselves and each other which she said will
help them to have a smooth relationship.
