The former and retired General Secretary of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide Pastor Gideon Okegwemeh recently celebrated his 70th birthday.
The birthday ceremony was held in his home town at CAC Ugba, Otuo, Owan Zone, Hanson Region, Edo State on Saturday, 1st September, 2018.
CAC faithfuls, staff of CAC General Secretariat and eminent personalities from all works of life graced the occasion.
His Profile
Pastor Gideon Okegwemeh was born into a Christian family of Elder John Okegwemeh Ikpefua and Mrs. Mary Ipefua in Otuo, Edo State of Nigeria in 1948.
Gideon Okegwemeh obtained his First Leaving Certificate at L. A. Primary School, Ugba, Otuo and his Secondary Modern School Certificate at L. A. Modern School, Otuo in 1963.
He privately studied for his GCE ‘O’ Levels and for his Master’s Degree in Theology (external candidate).
Gideon Okegwemeh taught for many years at Azama College, Otuo as Vice-Principal until 1981. He was ordained as a Pastor in CAC in 1982. He was the Area Secretary (1981-86), Admin. Manager (1986-89), and Fund Raising Manager (1989-91) for the Bible Society of Nigeria. From 1992-93, Pastor Okegwemeh worked at the CAC General Secretariat as the Acting General Secretary of Christ Apostolic Church.
He was transferred and became the District Superintendent of Warri District in 1993. The District progressed to become a Districts Coordinating Council (DCC), while Pastor Okegwemeh became the Chairman.
In 1999, Pastor Okegwemeh returned to the General Secretariat as the seventh General Secretary after the demise of Pastor T. O. Obademi.
He voluntarily retired from active service of Christ Apostolic Church (Worldwide) in 2014.
