Christ Apostolic Church House of Prayer (CACHOP) Zonal headquarters, United Kingdom, has successfully concluded its annual Prayer Summit with a glorious thanksgiving service held recently at the church’s new cathedral in Clifford Road, Glasgow, United Kingdom.
The three-day Prayer Summit, which ran from 24–26 July, was a significant gathering for members of the Zone as it also commemorated the anniversary of the Glasgow Assembly, which now serves as the Zonal Headquarters of the church.
The thanksgiving service was a moment of profound gratitude and celebration as members and pastors from assemblies across the United Kingdom gathered to give thanks to God for His faithfulness and remarkable provision for the church.
The CACHOP Zone UK had previously worshipped in a facility provided by a Christian organisation after the church lost its former place of worship to a devastating fire. However, through what members described as the mercy and providence of God, the church has now been blessed with a befitting cathedral in Clifford Road, Glasgow, which serves as the Zone’s headquarters.
The service commenced with Sunday School and featured inspiring renditions from the Zonal Mass Choir, heartfelt prayers and a special celebration marking the birthday of Pastor Rufus Thomas, the spiritual father of the Zonal Superintendent, Pastor Damilola Aje, PhD. Pastor Rufus Thomas also ministered the Word of God during the service.
The sermon, titled “That I May Know Him,” was based on Philippians 3:5–10.
In his message, Pastor Rufus Thomas challenged the congregation with a thought-provoking question: “Do we really want to know Christ?”
Reflecting on the life of Apostle Paul, the preacher noted that Paul had impressive credentials, education, a privileged background and extensive training. Yet, despite these human accomplishments, Paul counted them as loss for the sake of knowing Christ.
The congregation was consequently challenged to consider what they themselves had counted as loss for Christ and what truly motivates their Christian journey.
The preacher further asked fundamental questions about the believer’s purpose: What is our goal as Christians? What do we live for? What is our deepest yearning? What motivates us in our Christian journey? And what experience of the resurrection power of Christ have we received?
Drawing from Psalm 27:4, the message emphasised that knowing God requires a deliberate pursuit of His presence. Believers must seek Him, dwell in His presence and continually behold Him.
The sermon served as a timely spiritual charge to the congregation to move beyond religious activities and pursue a deeper, personal knowledge and experience of Christ.
At the conclusion of the message, the Zonal Superintendent, Pastor Damilola Aje, PhD, led the congregation in prayer. He also expressed appreciation to all the assembly pastors, ministers, members and everyone who contributed to the success of the Prayer Summit.
The thanksgiving service ended on a high note of praise, gratitude and celebration, with the congregation giving glory to God for His faithfulness, provision and continued growth of the Christ Apostolic Church House of Prayer Zone UK.
