In furtherance of its mandate to advance the Gospel and strengthen the work of missions across the nations, Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria and Overseas Missions Department has successfully concluded an apostolic missionary journey to Sierra Leone, reinforcing existing mission fields, encouraging missionaries, and laying the foundation for expanded evangelical outreach.
The apostolic delegation, led by the Director of Missions, Pastor C. S. Fasuyi, accompanied by his wife and Personal Assistant, Pastor Ebenezer Adedigba, departed Nigeria on July 9, 2026, on a six-day supervisory and pastoral mission to the church's mission fields in Sierra Leone.
Arriving in Freetown on the evening of July 9, the team immediately commenced a carefully planned itinerary aimed at evaluating the progress of missionary activities, strengthening local congregations, encouraging field missionaries, and identifying areas requiring further intervention.
The first major assignment took the delegation on a six-hour road journey to Kenema, the capital of Kenema District in Sierra Leone's Eastern Province. Widely recognised as one of the country's major commercial centres, Kenema hosts one of CAC's thriving mission stations.
During the visit, the delegation commended the steady growth of the church, particularly its vibrant worship services, sound pastoral care, and sustained evangelistic engagement within the community. While expressing satisfaction with the progress made, the Missions Department also identified the establishment of a school as a strategic priority to enhance community development and expand the church's social impact in the area.
The apostolic journey continued to the Kissy Mission Field in eastern Freetown, where the delegation met with members and leaders of another growing congregation committed to worship, discipleship, pastoral care, and community evangelism.
Despite the remarkable progress recorded, church leaders reported that burglars had recently broken into the church premises and stolen the congregation's sound system. Responding to the development, Pastor Fasuyi assured members that the CAC Missions Department would facilitate the provision of a new sound system to restore effective worship and ministry activities.
The Kissy congregation also reflects the growing international character of CAC's missionary work, with worshippers drawn from Sierra Leone and neighbouring Guinea (Conakry).
The delegation was, however, unable to visit the Duawaz Uphill Mission Field due to severe erosion and flooding that rendered the access road impassable following days of heavy rainfall.
Even so, reports presented during the visit revealed encouraging progress in the church's grassroots evangelistic efforts. Fellowship centres have now been established in Lungi, Kariee Village, Kington, and Aberdeen, where regular prayer meetings, youth ministry, Bible studies, discipleship classes, and community outreach programmes are actively nurturing new believers and extending the church's presence.
The Missions Department commended the dedication and resilience of the resident missionary, Pastor Roland Ayodeji, whose commitment continues to drive the expansion of Christ Apostolic Church in Sierra Leone.
The apostolic missionary journey reached its climax with a special celebration and worship service at the church's headquarters on Priscilla Street, Freetown, where members from the various fellowship centres joined the headquarters congregation in thanksgiving and worship.
The service reflected the multicultural reach of the church's missionary work, bringing together believers from Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, and members of the Fula community. Sixty-seven adults attended the service, with Sierra Leoneans forming the overwhelming majority of the congregation.
Introducing the delegation, Pastor Fasuyi explained that they had been commissioned by the leadership of Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria and Overseas, under the authority of the President of the church, Pastor Samuel O. Oladele, to strengthen the mission work in Sierra Leone and encourage both missionaries and members.
Ministering on the subject of genuine Christian discipleship, he challenged believers to live daily by the fruits of the Holy Spirit, stressing that Christ-like character remains the most effective testimony for winning souls and advancing God's Kingdom.
He also expressed appreciation to the church members for their warm reception and unwavering support, while commending Pastor Roland Ayodeji for his faithful stewardship of the mission field.
The apostolic missionary journey concluded on July 14, 2026, with the delegation returning safely to Nigeria after a fruitful mission that further demonstrated the commitment of the CAC Missions Department to strengthening mission fields, supporting missionaries, and expanding the frontiers of the Gospel across Africa.
Reflecting on the success of the journey, the delegation gave all glory to God for His protection, guidance, and abundant grace throughout the visit. They also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the leadership of Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria and Overseas, led by Pastor Samuel O. Oladele, for its steadfast commitment to global missions and the welfare of missionaries serving on the frontlines of evangelism.
The successful missionary journey stands as another significant milestone in the continuing apostolic vision of the Christ Apostolic Church Missions Department to plant churches, make disciples, and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ among the nations.
