JABU announces appointment of Prof. Danladi Slim Matawal as new Pro-Chancellor ‎

‎The management of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) has announced the appointment of its third substantive Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Danladi Slim Matawal, marking a new phase in the institution’s leadership.

‎According to the Vice-Chancellor, Olasebikan Alade Fakolujo, Prof. Matawal has been formally appointed as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council.

‎He succeeds Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, who has been called to national service as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

‎The university leadership expressed appreciation to Prof. Amupitan for his dedicated service and contributions to the institution’s growth and development.

‎Prof. Matawal has since assumed office and presided over his maiden Governing Council meeting on Thursday, April 9, 2026. The meeting addressed key strategic issues aimed at strengthening the university’s academic and institutional advancement.

‎The university community warmly welcomed the new Pro-Chancellor, expressing optimism that his extensive experience and leadership will further advance JABU’s mission of raising godly leaders and promoting academic excellence.

‎Born on October 30, 1955, Prof. Matawal is a distinguished Nigerian Professor of Civil Engineering and former Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
