Ministers of the gospel across the globe have been urged to accord their spiritual fathers honour they deserve.

The Convener, Everything by Prayer Church Nigeria, Bishop Alex Kofi-Opata stated this last weekend while ministering at Dag Heward-Mills Ministries Honouring the Fathers Conference held at CAC All Saints' Chapel, CAC General Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State.

He noted that honour is a beautiful thing, it brings one into a relationship with people one may never have a relationship with.

On how to honour fathers, Bishop Kofi-Opata stated that it's by thinking properly, explaining that; "what your heart is full of is what you are manifesting. Jesus was unable to do any mighty work among His people because they didn't honour Him, they see Him as a son of a Carpenter. You are getting nothing from your spiritual fathers because of your thought about him (Mark 6:2-5)."

The Cleric further said you honour somebody by acknowledging him (2nd King 3:11), your acknowledgement of somebody is the respect you are giving him.

Speaking on how to acknowledge fathers, the Bishop said,"make public mention of the person, publicly announce his presence, give him award and invite him to be a speaker at your programme."

He also added that one can honour his father with substance.

"To do well in the ministry, so many things should come together. You need many things to work together for what God has called you to do to manifest. One of those things that must work together is honour. Honour may take larger percentage among things that need to work together. God cancelled the promised He had with Prophet Eli because of dishonour," he said.

Bishop Kofi-Opata said many have failed in the ministry as a result of honour.

On why some people don't honour their fathers, the Cleric said; "people find it difficult to honour their fathers because they are not following Jesus. If you are following Jesus, you will honour your father."

He also said some people don't honour their father because they don't follow the example of King David, saying that ministry can be cut short because of dishonour.

He further said that David didn't dishonour King Saul despite making attempt to kill him.

Bishop Kofi-Opata stressed that some people find it difficult to honour their fathers because their heart have turned away from their fathers, adding that when you dishonour your father it is a sign that there is a demon in you.

The programme had in attendance the President of the church, represented by the General Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel E. Mapur who delivered his speech. Also, the wife of CAC General Superintendent, Mrs. Marian Odejobi, DCC Superintendent of Oke-Ado DCC, who is also CPFN Oyo State Chapter Chairman, Pastor G.S. Dada; Music Director of the church, Pastor Tope Dada and Chaplain of CAC All Saints' Chapel, Pastor T.D. Asokeji were all in attendance.
