Christ Apostolic Church Somolu Districts Coordinating Council (DCC) has held the 2023 Edition of her Annual Workers' Prayer Programme on Saturday, 14th January, 2023 at the Church headquarters, Somolu, Lagos.

The programme characterized by prayer galore to commit the 2023 activities unto the hands of God, featured songs from the hymnals and prayer ministrations by anointed men of God.

In a message titled “Making the pleasing sacrifice of sweet aroma unto God,” the DCC Superintendent, Pastor E.O. Oyedeji, taking his text from the book of Ephesians 4:17-23, encouraged all and sundry in the new year to be focused their ministerial assignments, saying that to be focused is profitable but to derail is disastrous.

Explaining the essence of the prayer meeting, the Superintendent said, "We must engage in things that will bring good aroma to God and not those things that will provoke Him. Let’s examine these points as excerpted from our Bible passage of today"

"Negativity of all kinds to be removed from your mind. Don’t live like gentiles again in the new year. Don’t get confused so that Satan will not take advantage of you. God will lift you up at the right time, don’t usurp position with spirit of do or die. Don’t struggle the control of your life with God in this new year. Don’t get confused, because the confused ones usually fall victim of temptations of all sorts. If you are not consistent you will not be able to bring sweet aroma to God, so, be focused," he listed.

Pastor Oyedeji continued that, "Allow the fear of God in your life and forsake sinful life in this new year. If you fail to obey God it means you will become a disgrace to God like some shameless ministers of God out there. Please don’t join the culprits, if you are careless you are not helping yourself. Change your distorted way of thinking/evaluation which can result in negative actions, such actions will not help our unity in the Somolu DCC and her sister churches."

Expositing Ephesians 4:25-28, the cleric proffers that to put on the new nature, one must, "Stop lying. Stop stealing. Stop fighting. Stop cheating those under you. Stop malice, etc. All these are absurd among the ambassadors of the Living God," urging his audience to "Start telling the truth. Start demonstrating loyalty. Take prayer serious, because that is where we derive power for ministerial sustenance."

"Abraham was a good role model. He served God and God acknowledged and honored him. God will also honour you if you can picture Him discretely even in the corrupted environment. Don’t use abusive languages in all your conversations. Don’t make the Holy Spirit angry. Get rid of bitterness, be cheerful and be expectant God is at work," the Superintendent furthered.

In his conclusion, the DCC Superintendent concluded with an appeal for ministers of God to love their wives/husbands according to the Biblical precepts, admonishing the need for love about hate in order ensure being sweet aroma to God in the year 2023.
