JABU to honour Sen. Bamidele, former Corps Marshal of FRSC, Dr. Boboye, Chairman of ChristyCaleb Foundation, Elder Olowookere with Doctorate Degree

The first entrepreneurial University in Nigeria, Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), is set to confer honorary doctorate degrees on a human rights activist, politician, and third-term Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele (CON), the immediate past Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi (MFR) and the Chairman, ChristyCaleb Foundation, Elder Aderemi Olowookere.


The Vice-Chancellor of the university,Prof. Olasebikan Alade Fakolujo who disclosed this at a press conference today Monday January 23, 2023, while speaking on the forthcoming convocation of the school said the trio would be honored at the 13th convocation of the school which holds on Friday January 27, 2023.


While recounting some of the major achievements of the University in the 2021/2022 academic session, the VC said they were timely and regular payments of staff salaries and allowances, promotion of qualified members of staff, JABU ranked number three best among the private universities in Nigeria in the last webometric ranking of universities and a day workshop on monitoring of academic activities.


He further said within the 2021/2022 academic session not less than ten members of staff bagged their PhDs in various fields, General Manager was appointed for the University ventures, there was an improvement in lighting of the campus through the introduction of solar streetlights, Dr. L. J. Babatola, the Acting Director, Research and Grant Management Office (RGMO), won the International Foundation for Science (IFS) grant of $11,520 to support his research work etc.


"At Joseph Ayo Babalola University, we are passionate about producing graduates that perform excellently in life. One of such excellent performance was recorded by one of our Law graduates who passed out with a First Class Honours during the just concluded 2021/2022 academic session of the Nigerian Law School. This and many more notable feats keep attracting the interest of many prospective students desirous to study at our University," Prof. Fakolujo stated.


The VC also announced the appointment of a full-time Chaplain for the university in person of Pastor Olusola Johnson Oluwasanmi, the immediate past English Assembly Pastor of CAC Adamasingba DCC headquarters, Ibadan, Lagos. 


Prof Fakolujo also said: "I am pleased to inform you that a 400 level student of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Samuel Ayomide Jesuyan, was appointed WEST AFRICA YOUTH AMBASSADOR due to his laudable antecedents of dedication, hard work and diligence in the area of service to humanity and commendable work as an advocate and relentless crusader of promoting entrepreneurship for African youths. The award is the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity. which was presented on 6th December 2022."


Activities to commemorate the 13th convocation of the school are reunion service on Wednesday January 25, 2023, Convocation Lecture on Thursday January 26, 2023 and Convocation on Friday January 27, 2023.
