CAC Sokoto DCC holds Retirement Service for retired Superintendent, Pastor Ojetunde





Christ Apostolic Church, Sokoto Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), Sokoto State on Sunday July 31, 2022 held retirement service for her retired and immediately past Superintendent, Pastor Joshua Ekundayo Ojetunde.

The programme held at the DCC headquarters in Sokoto had in attendance the Regional Superintendent of Adelaja Region, Pastor S.N. Maichibi. It also had in attendance some DCC, Zone and District Superintendents, friends, families and well wishers. 


Biography of Pastor Ojetunde

Pastor Ojetunde was born into a Christian family of Pa and Mrs. John Oguntoke Ojetunde in Idogun, Ose Local Government area of Ondo State in July, 1947. He is a wonderful man in the sense that he was delivered after three years of pregnancy by the mother instead of the normal nine months. May I at this junction draw your attention to some of the outstanding sterling qualities, facts and achievement of our spiritual father who we are celebrating today.

HIS EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Pastor J. E. Ojetunde obtained his First School Leaving Certificate at the Apostolic Church Primary School, Idogun, Ose L.G.A, Ondo State in 1962. He could not continue his education because of poor financial background. He then was called to Ministry in the Apostolic Church as an Evangelist (Teacher) in 1964 1967. Later he abandoned the Evangelist work and enlisted into Nigeria Army in 1968. While in the Army, he attended several courses. In 1985, he obtained Army Certificates of Education (ACE) Class one and later sat for GCE Examination where he obtained (4) Credits and (2) Passes. In 2007, he attended a 4 year Course at Enugu State College of Education Technical and obtained an N.C.E certificate in Primary Education. In the course of his career as a Pastor, he attended several conferences and leadership trainings among which are Human Management and Leadership Course in 2014 at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) andCapacity Building for Effective Ministry at the same Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) in 2022 before his retirement. All these trainings and educational pursuit in addition to his ability to work in perseverance with God made him to be well grounded in Ministry and hence his overwhelming success.

THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION

He obtained his Theological Certificate in CACTS Enugu Campus in 1997 and Diploma in Theology in CACTS, Ile-Ife which is affiliated to University of Ibadan in 2001.He attended Pastoral College at CACTS Ile-Ife in 1995, and was ordained a Pastor on the 13 December, 1995. DEDICATION TO DUTY

Pastor J.E. Ojetunde is well known for dedication to duty which made him to rise to the rank of Warrant Officer in the Nigerian Army before his disengagement to obey the call of God into Ministry. This same virtue of dedication to duty was also replicated in his work as a Pastor, no wonder he rose to the position of DCC Superintendent.

HOW HE BECAME A CAC MEMBER

He became a CAC member in 1970 in Makurdi when he could not locate his mother'sChurch which is the Apostolic Church of Nigeria.In 1972, he was sent to Enugu to attend a course on Improvise Explosive Disposal ((IED)) and was retained in Enugu at completion of the Coursewhile other soldiers that took part in the training were dispatched to various places like Kaduna, Jos. Port-Harcourt, Ibadan and Lagos.

Pastor Ojetunde is the pioneer Minister of CAC Assembly that grew to become Oke Igbala Zone when he was in Enugu. He also established many churches in Enugu. In 1999, he planted CAC 9 Mile now developed to District Headquarters and also established CAC Ugwaji, Enugun; CAC Amuri Road, Enugu; CAC Ameke, Enugu and CAC Nkpor in Anambra state. 

SOME OF HIS CHARACTERS

Pastor J. E. Ojetunde is an outstanding man of God known for
putting God first before any other thing. He loves to do God's work. He a man of integrity, honesty and prudent in management of all forms of resources. He is a teacher per excellence. 


HIS ACHIEVEMENTS

Among Baba numerous achievements when he took over as the Superintendent of Sokoto Districts Coordinating Council are the following and can be grouped into three:

1. CAC SOKOTO DCC HEADQUARTERS: 

a) He assumed duty on 7 January 2018. He demolished the altar he met at the DCC Headquarters and reconstructed it to a modern one at the cost of Seven hundred thousand naira only (? 700,000). The altar was dedicated in April 2018.

b) He changed the mode of giving offering to a modern one by providing the church with offering bags.

c) The Church Auditorium was renovated the following year by putting industrial fans and interior of the Church was also painted. d) He reformed the mode of operation of the finances of the Church by separating incoming tithe from Church general
account for easy accountability. He opened a separate account for tithe and offering for easy payment of Minister's salary and operation other activities of the Church.

e) The Mission house was renovated by changing the levier glasses to almaco and tiling of both front and back of veranda of Chairman Residence.

f) Tiling of District Superintendent office. g) During his administration, the Church was able to purchase standby generator for illumination. 

h) During his administration, he provides a local well for regular water supply to people in the mission house and other Members of Church.

1) He created groups (2) in addition to the existing one.

j) The Church was able to raise the fence with additional two coaches and barb wire to curb the menace of regular theft in the Church compound.

k) Pastor Ojetunde in his magnanimity and his belief in equity is always ready to recognize people of high repute especially spiritually. Hence in 2019, he organized and elevated five (5) men and five (5) women to the position of Elders and Deaconesses respectively namely: Engr. M.A. Fajemibola, Mr. Oladipupo A. Sunday, Mr. Rapheal Tolorunshogbon, Engr. Olarenwaju Ogunrinde, Mr. Samuel Olushola (Samunaka), Mrs. Margaret O. Ojemere, Mrs. Florence Ikotun, Mrs. Grace O. Ajayi Odumuyiwa, Mrs. Abigial Ogunrinde and Mrs. Victoria A. Ogunrinde respectively with other achievements just to mention but
few in the DCC headquarters. 

2. IN THE DISTRICT (SOKOTO DISTRICT):

a) He made sure the unity among the brethren in the District improved compared with what he met when he took over the District. He also made sure that all the organs of the District rise up to their duties. Love among the ministers cannot be over emphasized.

b) He ensured accountability in the management of the District's finances which built confidence that results in prompt payment of dues, levies etc. by the District constituent Assemblies.

c) District programme were reformed and all Units became functional. 


3. IN THE DCC:

a) He first made sure that the three Districts operate in accordance with the CAC Administration which was not so when he took over. 

b) He creates room for every District to follow the policy of CAC which engender proper functioning of the Districts and evident development.

c) He made sure that he settled a four years misunderstanding between Mabera District and the former District Superintendent, Pastor Famobio with the help of CAC authority. 

d) He made sure DCC CACMA opened and operates a bank account.

e) He revived CAC Birnin Koni, Niger that was dead to life.

 f) He created an office for Sokoto DCC Superintendent and employed a Personal Assistant on a monthly salary. 

g) CAC Sokoto DCC that was in 4th position among DCCs and Zones in Adelaja region but now occupies 2nd position when Pastor Ojetunde took over Sokoto DCC administration.


MARITAL LIFE
Pastor Ojetunde has no other guide than Almighty God and his wife like mother which God gave him, Mrs. Janet Olorunfemi Ojetunde.
