"In times like these" by Evangelist Esther Ogunbayeje

“To everything there is a season. A time for every purpose on earth” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Uum, in times like these when everyone is living in fear, not knowing what to do. In times like these when the government is looking for solutions and the scientists are trying all they can do to profound solution yet it seems elusive. In times like these when every system is collapsing  and the economy is going down, in times like these when peace seems to be far away and terror seems to be reigning, there is a solution and this is in drawing closer to God like never before according to 2 Chronicles 7: 14

“If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

In times like these, we need a saviour, we need an anchor and this anchor is Jesus. We must let our grips be solid on him.

Truly,  there are different times and seasons in life. These change in an unpredictable way. They change things, people and our perspectives. Who would have thought of a pandemic that will ravage the whole continents and kills thousands of people in this century of high technology and medical knowledge? The virus continue to go viral as if it can not be curtailed yet it will definitely be in the name and the blood of Jesus.

Surely, this is a difficult time for all races and countries; it is a hard time for the strong and the weak, it is a fearful time for the wise and the unintelligent, it is a difficult time for the rich and the poor, for the high and the low class in the society yet there is an end to it. Surely, times and seasons change but no one knows how soon. Truly, changes in seasons and times can bring negative and unpredictable results that can impact lives and change the course forever as we are seeing in the world now. Surely nothing is permanent in life (both good and bad) and nothing is secured forever because life is full of uncertainties etc. But in all these, there is something we must not do, fear  and there is something we must do, hold on to Jesus. The fact that nothing is permanet on earth is an assurance that corona virus has a time, it is not here for ever, it will go and become history in Jesus’ name.

Jesus knew there are troubles in the world and that was why he asked the disciples to cheer up because he has overcome the world John 16:33. Is it possible to cheer up when there are pandemonium, terror, plagues and diseases ravaging the world, collapsing the economy, restricting human movements and killing people etc? Yes, one can cheer up because there is a saviour that has overcome these for us. He has given us a name that is above every deadly or mild virus  Philipians 2:  9-11. He has overcome these for us by the power in his blood Revelation 12:11 and so we are very sure that we are overcomers.

All over the world, there is fear. Fear of contacting virus, disease and death but God is not unaware of this time because He is Omniscient. And no matter how this virus may be contagious and deadly, there is an end to it. God is alive; His promises are unchanging, His power has not reduced. If He stops the plague in the land of Egypt, He can stop this as well.
So, in time like this:
1 Acknowledge Him and accept His grace through Jesus Christ
2 Hold on to Him unswervingly knowing that no disease can overcome Him Psalm 27:1
3 Repent of your sins and live a holy life Psalm 24:3
4 Be prayerful  for yourself, for others and the whole nation of the world 1 Thessalonians 5:17
5 Remove fear and anxiety 1 Peter 5:7
6 Be obedient to God and the authority I Samuel 15:22
7 Eat well, live clean and stay safe Genesis 2: 16

In conclusion,
Part of fighting against this virus is simple hygiene, washing of our hands, not being careless with how we handle things and touch our faces, social distancing and staying at home unless it is compulsory to go out etc. We can safe ourselves and many people by obeying simple  instructions. As we pray, let us do our parts and allow God to do His part believing there is nothing with beginning without an end and surely as this virus has a beginning, its end will surely come ; there will be solution in Jesus’ name. Meanwhile, stay safe and do not let your heart be troubled. Shalom
