Christians all over the globe have been urged to endure the challenges and agony of life, just as Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ endured despite being ridiculed.

The General Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, Pastor Samuel O. Oladele stated this while ministering on the topic "Mary, the Agony of a Virgin" at the 2019 Christmas Carol of Oyo State held on Sunday December 22, 2019.

Pastor Oladele said Christianity is embracing the cross and what it entails, not how some preachers define it these days.

The General Superintendent who faulted preachers who have taken prosperity message to the extreme said Christianity is unashamedly clinging to the cross.

"I'm not against prosperity because God wants us to prosper, but taking prosperity message to the extreme is very bad. If you prophesy that someone would buy a new car and he bought it, you must let him know he would meet potholes on his journey. The road to heaven is not easy. As Christians we must be ready to bear the pain of life like Mary who was ridiculed for being pregnant considering the fact that she was a virgin. If Mary had gone ahead to  abort the pregnant because of the agony or shame there wouldn't be Jesus Christ," Pastor Oladele stated.

The Cleric also said that the present affliction cannot be compared with glory ahead of every believer.
