Christ Apostolic Church, Ikosi District, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos on Friday December 6, 2019 held her annual Christmas Carol service.

The Carol service which was tagged "they shall call His name Emmanuel" began at 10:00pm on and was well attended by ministers and members of each assemblies under the district.

Speaking during the carol message on the event of the birth of Jesus and the attitude of this generation towards it, the District Superintendent of Ikosi District, Pastor Isaiah Afolayan, explained that like the days of Jesus, most people in this generation have refused to accept the salvation that the birth of Jesus Christ offers.

According to him, Jesus had spoken about this generation, explaining the words of Jesus in Matthew chapter 3 verse 7 where Jesus referred to it as generation of vipers, he said;
"When we talk about viper, we are talking about a poisonous snake and we can observe from what is going on in this generation that the viper of sin has penetrated the hearts of many in this generation".

Citing from the book Matthew chapter 11 verse 16 and reading through the next verses, Pastor Afolayan added that most people in this generation are full of deceit and most of the people do not want to accept the truth stating that the world we find ourselves is the world that hate the truth and do not want to receive the gospel.

As part of measures that Christians must adopt so as not to fall victim of deceit, he then stressed the need for Christians especially ministers to be rooted in the word.

"We, as ministers of the gospel must have deep understanding of the word because there is no how you can simplify the gospel except you want to deviate from it. Many ministers while trying to simplify the gospel have diluted it just to have majority on their side, but Jesus during His days in earth did not do that." He explained.

Offering Peter's words of exhortation in Acts of the Apostles chapter 2 verse 40, Pastor Afolayan advised all to save themselves from this corrupt generation by accepting Jesus' offer of salvation and believing in Him.

The programme which featured other sessions such as worship and nine carols from the district's choir, ended in prayers revolving round the Christmas message.
