I don't know of any gospel artiste in Nigeria without a touch of CAC - Dr. Adeleke

The Head of Department, Department of Music Technology, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr. Abel Adeleke has said that he has not seen any evergreen gospel artiste in Nigeria without the touch of Christ Apostolic Church.

He noted that Christ Apostolic Church produced the pioneers of gospel music in Nigeria, stating that late Pastor S.O. Akinpelu and Pastor S.A. Adeosun were used by God to start gospel music in Nigeria.

Dr. Adeleke who stated this while ministering on "Choir Ethics and Effective Ministration" said that the likes of Pastor Sola Rotimi, Pastor J.A. Adelakun (Ayewa) and Dr. Bola Are are evergreen gospel artistes Nigeria can never forget.

He said that music is not about what you know but about what you practice, saying that if you know so much but don’t practice you won’t be able to perform .

While advising music ministers that their music composition should be from the scripture, Dr. Adeleke noted that "there are so many unethical things in the music ministry these days, and one of them is unethical use of language. There are words that are being used that are not scriptural. The lyrics have no place in the scripture."

"Inspiration should not push you to do wrong things when composing.  Let’s go back to the culture of good accents in our songs and let’s do it such ways that inspiration will not jam with quality. When writing, don’t qualify God with words that are not Bible based. Don't do what is wrong under the guise of inspiration. Use the Bible as your basis when you compose songs. Listen to several hymns to guide you when composing songs. It is not how many songs you write that will make you great but how great the songs you have written," he stated.
