Gospel artists, bands should see themselves as God's soldiers for end-time revival- Ayomikun

Mr. Oludele Kunle Ayomikun

DA SPIRIT CREW, one of the gospel bands in the Nigerian gospel industry will tomorrow Sunday June 30, 2019 hold Spirit in Praise Banquet programme by 2pm with the red carpet starting by 1pm. The programme will be held at Christ Apostolic Church, Miracle Centre Auditorium, Omole Lagos. The leader of the band, Mr. Oludele Kunle Ayomikun speaks with CAC NEWS on the musical band, the programme and other interesting issues.

Tell us briefly about yourself

I'm Oludele Kunle Ayomikun, son of late Pastor Adetunji Gabriel Oludele. I am a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University. By God's grace I'm the Choir Master and Music Coordinator of Christ Apostolic Church, Miracle Centre, (Assembly) Ojodu Lagos.

Which gospel artiste is your role model and why?

Pastor J.A. Adelakun, popularly known as Ayewa, is my role model. I was brought up with his music and my love for his music grew every day till I started my career. Till date, I still listen to his lyrics because they are heavenly cautioned.

Tell us about DA SPIRIT CREW

The name Da Spirit Crew is a vision given to me through a man of God over 20 years ago. I started this band with the name "D Rose Voice" and changed it when the new name came through vision by a late cleric. And that is the source of the name "Da Spirit Crew."

What prompted the establishment of the music band?

Like I said earlier, I was born and brought up in a mission house and music had been part of my whole family from my late Dad, Mum, elder brother and sister because I was the last born. I was fully involved in choir activities.

I remember during my tertiary days, lecturers and course-mates used to tell me that I was just in school to be educated, but music is my call being a full member of the Jesus family fellowship on campus.
So after I rounded off, I was led by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate my band which had the presence of my father, friends, and co-students. That was how we started about 20 years ago.

Give us some details about Spirit In Praise Banquet

Having been invited to so many praise concerts, I had interest to hold one but it never worked out. About four years ago I had a message that it was not yet time. God said He is preparing me for music crusade not the normal praise night programme being held almost everywhere these days.

This first edition of Spirit In Praise Banquet is just an awareness. From next year, Spirit In Praise Banquet will turn to Spirit in Praise Crusade. It is for the end time revival. My vision is for the programme to be held from one state to another.

Tell us briefly about the invited guests

Most of the gospel artistes invited for Spirit in Praise Bouquet are spiritually rooted. Some of them are Biyi Sam, Tope Adebayo, Araleyi, Olabab, etc.

There are so many music bands and gospel artists these days, but majority of them are not scripturally rooted. What do you think is wrong?

God bless you for this question. The Bible says many are called but few are chosen. I have met so many artists who claim to be christian bands and yet playing in bar houses. We need to go back to our root and ask where we belong. Gospel bands should be seen as God's vessels and soldiers for the end time revival. I reject to be an object of pity on the judgement day.

What should be the greatest desire of any gospel artiste or gospel band?

Heavenly home should be the greatest desire of any gospel artiste. We are sent to the world to bring back the lost sheep and free the captives. We are also sent to lead them to Calvary.

Where do you see yourself and your crew in the next five years?

By the special grace of God, we should have been in lime light in the next five years. This is because the vision given to us is highly dynamic and we keep praying for God's grace and power to launch our net into the world and catch many souls for Christ.
