CAC Worldwide Choir department hold Choir Leaders' Meeting

In a bid to have a formidable and
viable national and regional Choirs, and reawakening of the DCC, Zone and District Choirs, the Choir department of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide recently held a two day Choir Leaders' Meeting.



Delegates of Choir leaders from all regions within Nigeria attended the meeting as invited to at the CAC General Secretariat, Ibadan Oyo State.

 The General Secretary of the church Pastor Emmanuel Ezekiel Mapur, on behalf of the authority welcomed the  delegates and expressed satisfaction and approval of the authority on the steps and progress of the Music Directorate in the present times.




He articulated the expectations of the authority for noticeable improvement in all our church choirs across board.


Pastor Mapur concluded by saying that the authority is in full support of the move of the Music Directorate and enjoined everyone to cooperate with the church authority for a new and improved music ministration in CAC Worldwide.



In his address, the Director of Music, CAC Worldwide,  Pastor Tope Dada highlighted specific areas of focus for urgent action as expected by the authority in all our ministrations in line with the administrative structure and current development of the church.



According to him,  specific areas of focus for urgent action as expected by the authority include: formation of viable National and Regional Choirs, and reawakening of the DCC, Zone and District Choirs.


Others are preparation for the Centenary Celebrations, National and Regional activities of the church, Maiden Music Ministers’ Conference at Ikeji Arakeji from August 20 to 25, 2018, correction of the texts and content of our Hymn Books (English, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo Editions) and completion and printing of the music edition of CAC Hymn Book ready for our centenary celebrations.


The meeting broke into business sessions immediately comprising of 20 operational groups working on the assigned tasks.



The meeting came to a close with the following resolutions:


*Correct the textual errors in our hymn book by May 2018.

*Conclude correction of the music edition of our Hymn Book by June 2018.

*Align the Android Platform of our Hymn Book to be fully owned and managed by the church.

*Set up larger committee to plan and execute the August 2018 Musical Conference.


*They agreed on the structure to build quality music administration for result oriented operations as directed by the authority of the church.


*Each Region to reinstitute a life enriching music ministry and as a matter of importance set up a standard music school first at the regional level to be cascaded at least to the District levels. A highly focused forum of the choirmasters with sound musical knowledge.



In the light of this, the Director of Music is to align with Regional Superintendents on three reliable Choirmasters using the following guidelines as Criteria for selection. Such person must be:

*a trusted, disciplined child of God (born again) and consistent member of CAC with evidences as in 1Timothy 3:1-7.



*must have a very sound secular and musical education with vast experience and must have been in the Choir for not less than 15 years and served as a choir leader for not less than 10 years.


*must be available for national, regional and delegate meetings and church programs.


*His/her appointment should not be by voting or election of any sort.


*Will serve for a term of 4 years in the first instance, could be reappointed based on good performance.



Conclusively, Pastor Dada said:"to equip our choristers both musically and spiritually, we will continually create awareness for the importance of personal developments. At the crest of our efforts, it will be an aberration for anyone to be Choirmaster in our assemblies especially in the urban centres without sound exposure to rudiments of music and spiritual competency."
